Well that 1st half was abysmal defending. Think we screwed up, similar to on here earlier, we didn’t class it as a derby whereas AFCB did!! And by the time Ralph & players realised, it was HT & we were lucky to have only been 2-0 down. Good 2nd half performance & against a lesser side we might have got something but ..... Our shooting is still very poor & Ralph ...... for all your good points, jeez what’s going on with Ryan? Or should I say Cedric at LB & then swapping it all around & bringing Ryan on My only question is? did we learn anything for Tuesday & rest of season.
Apologies all, reading back... Sorry mate but I really couldn't disagree with this more. Yes we were much better second half but we genuinely very poor in that first half which ultimately lost us the game.
I don't think we offered much going forward in the first half either if I'm honest. Very fluid maybe and neat and tidy, but we didn't really come close to creating anything of note.
Hey, welcome to the board! If you click on the link in my signature you’ll find useful information about stuff. Any queries, drop me or Beddytare, st_brendy, or Channonfodder a PM and we’ll do our best to help. We’ll also tell you who not to get in an argument with!
Sick. They were so much better all over the park in the first 45. Unlucky to only be 2-0. But we were gifted a lifeline, but still fell short. 2-1, I'd have taken that. 3, well the sting we earned. The bucket rattlers rattled me tonight, but its still not our derby......
I'm just frustrated we didn't play like that in the first half. I know when you're chasing the game you go more attacking and Bournemouth obviously went into their shell to protect the lead which led to attack v defence for the 2nd half but Bertrand really should have started at LB with Danso CB. That's on Ralph I'm afraid. On the plus side hopefully we'll come out all guns blazing on Tuesday.
On a side note I thought VAR was fine tonight. Disallowed the Bournemouth goal and checked the two penalty incidents without much delay.
Yep totally agree. Somethings obviously kicked off but to play a RB at LB when you have a good LB on the bench whose not injured & better is just friggin weird.
My comments were around those losing their **** and casting the whole team as garbage first half. I didn’t think we were. We were awful at the back, but if you look back and see how many times we made them give it away with our press and tackling, we shouldn’t be saying we were awful. I’ve not said we were great. The post above says we were “ok” in midfield and upfront. You know me. Someone loses their sh1t, I’m going to make a comment. Credit to Bournemouth they knew our weakness and exposed it. There’s a lot of grey between sh1t and great.
Anyone pissing their pants about this result needs to look back a little to see how much actual damage they could have inflicted on us. Tonight was a little get out of jail card to me, and a few others will feel the same. They were better, they deserved this, and they really could have put us to the sword in previous meetings. We did not do enough to be level with them at any stage tonight.
As I’ve said, thought the SU game was the bigger get out of jail. We could easily have lost that game by the same scoreline.
We were a very poor team with some average players. I’m not expecting our coach to make us world beaters over night. I accept that there will be some dodgy stuff amongst some ok and good stuff whilst we keep working to improve. We are improving, it’s just a bit patchy. No point losing our sh1t over the not so good stuff and then tarnishing everything with that same brush. No graph has a straight upward curve.
Defence was a shambles in the first half and that has to be on Ralph. 2nd half was a fantastic performance and it just wasn’t going to go our way. Boufal was a stand out player. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball.
I tend to agree with this. Not necessarily the stand out player part. But certainly the second sentence. He terrified people. Second half against Sheff Utd, he played more centrally/freely and caused lots of problems. A team needs that unpredictability - so glad he’s back and getting a chance. Is that 4 starts in a row now?
Six man...... are you knew around here. Some muppets have been going on about giving him six games in a row for ages. Prats. 6-10 actually.
We always say 6. EDIT: See? Corroborated by a colleague, ^^ and all without behind the scenes whispers.
