The beauty of our set up now is that if DF or a key player is plucked by a bigger club, then I have no doubt SW has a replacement in mind or at least a plan. My fear is what happens when SW is inevitably lured away?

I'm sure SW has a plan for that as well, but if he wants to make a name for himself, surely succeeding with us on a small budget will prove to be a much bigger accomplishment. He's young yet with a long career ahead of him.

Obviously not gonna be calling for his head, injuries provide all the mitigation you need for now. But I'm worried that at some point we might transition to; this is naive and we don't have the players, nor will we to make this work. We seem to have been found out. Other managers are setting traps that we are falling into time and again. Neil was labelled naive, Farke might be too.

    Bah!

Expecting us to get promoted at the start of last season would have been seen as extremely naive , sacking Farke and hoping the new guy could do a better job of keeping us up would be even more naive and perhaps foolhardy.

I agree with both the above posts - the only thing I think I would add is that yes, we are naive, but I am not sure there is much to be done about it.

We have a very young and inexperienced squad for the premier league, doubly so with all the injuries to our most experienced players.

Sadly that means we can try to work some of the naivety out, but ultimately we are never going to be able to play park the bus and experienced football - better we play to our strengths and Farke and co work on not letting heads go down in the dressing room.

We desperately need 3 things if we are to avoid the dreaded drop.

    1. An away win , our Premier league away form is and has been woeful.

2 . A clean sheet , it's far too easy to score against us and most goals conceded were from poor defending and conceding penalties.

    3. Stop getting ****ing injured.
We always here that the Championship is far more physical than the Premier league, with the skillful players getting more protection from the referees .
We are getting kicked and out muscled every game .
We don't have a Patrick Viera or Roy Keane and our young defenders seem incapable of winning a header or crunching an attacker.
We are too nice and extremely generous goal wise, our tippy tappy pretty football doesn't work against sides that don't let us play and we don't have a plan B.

After the 3rd went in subs should have been brought on Roberts Byram Heisse and Drmic should be getting more games rather than the walking wounded.

Indeed it would, I wasn't calling for his head. This squad has been built to play Farkeball, but we have to find some new way to bypass the high press. We get trapped and caught in our defensive 3rd too often and it's killing us. Unfortunately there seems little chance of improvement until the treatment room empties a little. But even with CZ, TK or GH at the back, would we be bypassing the press all the time or still getting caught out because our opponents know exactly what's coming and can and are setting traps for it? Clearly we have no forward players that warrent even occational route one, but we have to find a way of turning the press around, pushing it back so that we can build from the back, the only way for me is to make more angles for Stieperman, Emi, Cantwell or Leitner further up the pitch to receive it. I'm sure easier said than done, but surely not impossible.

    Bah!

    Bah!

Easier said than done. I think our problem is clear. We are exceedingly predictable and oppo coaches have sussed how to take advantage of us. The high press has us completely scuppered atm. So we need to find a way around that, then maybe we can think about away wins or clean sheets.

One perceived wisdom about us seems to be that we cannot park the bus, I'm not sure I fully agree. At various times during Farke's reign we have shown great defensive resolve, even against Citeh at times we looked like we were pretty adept at nullifying their threats. With injuries we look incapable but, with Krul and Zimmbo plus one of Trybull/Tettey/Amadou at DM it is not impossible to think we can be strong at the back. It is about balance and mindset. Clearly Farke wants the FB's to bomb on and that is leaving us exposed but it is possible for a fully fit Farke team to defend well.

    Bah!

If we can stop the stupid mistakes in our third of the pitch then we stand a chance of giving the harangued defence a break. We are getting mugged in our defensive third all too often and this just invites pressure - pressure which our patched up defence cannot cope with.

We are also giving Teemu to much to do and the Premier League defences can now nullify his threat more easily than the Championship defences. Maybe, just a suggestion here, we should play Drmic behind Teemu and give Stiepermann a break - he looked jaded and well off the pace on Saturday and probs needs a rest. Drmic looked bright and positive in his cameo role when he came on and took his gift goal well. Just a thought ?
