I watched some of the Arsenal match.....hoping for some schadenfreude. They conceded another 24 shots but won 3-0 with two goals against 10 men in the last 10 minutes.

Ridiculous, but I can just about accept Russia as part of Europe given that it does account for such a large part of Europe's total area.
Kazakhstan has some part of it to the west of the Ural mountains, but not much. Astana is further east than Kabul.

 

Part of it is west of the Urals so it counts as in Europe. Astana is in Asia though.

 

I think this might explain a few things...

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke invested his own money on transfers this summer rather than rely on the club's self-sustaining model to fund the deals.

 

I want them to do well in the competition. In fact, equally as well as last season would be just perfect.

 

With a different winner though. Chelsea could well be heading back to that competition.

 

The only thing missing is the quality of opponent in the group stages
(so they can seriously rotate their squad while CL participants cannot) .

 

Of course, this has nothing to do with allowing The FA to keep pretending everything is kosher about a certain stadium in the Manchester area...

 

If Jovic or Haller were still at Frankfurt, I'm convinced we wouldn't have won the game. We could easily have been 2 or 3 goals down before Willock got the opener.

Good win at a hostile stadium vs last year's Europa semi-finalists, but there's still loads of work to do.
