We are comparing to League One though mate. If the players are ****e, Jack signed the majority of them.

We aren’t in a position to bring in 5 or 6 players so we need the ones we have to be given belief and confidence.

Ross doesn’t inspire you, he doesn’t give off any air of being motivational or even particularly authoritive for me personally.

I stick with the opinion the club was too big too soon for him, and his fear of failure is too much to overcome. I will be as delighted as anyone if we put a run of wins together I just don’t see it coming under him.

Seen ongoing convo mate, my argument is the players we have should be doing better collectively, and that falls at the feet of the leader.

If I’m a sales manager, have 11 sales staff, and 6-7 consistently come up short, that’s on me and I’m a goner.

The Coventry game didn’t showcase their brilliance, they were mid table, it highlighted our ineptitude.

They were signed under his watch yeah but I'm always reluctant to praise or blame managers for signings because depending on the setup they don't always get a lot of input. It all depends on the budget really and ours was mainly focused on drastically cutting costs. Grigg was a big mistake, if that had worked out and we'd got an upgrade on Maja we'd be in the championship now and not having this debate.

Different opinions for different people of course but I like Ross and what he says, I think he's a realistic but positive manager with a tough side. If there's a problem with the team he sees it and fixes it, 3 at the back not working and his marquee signing Grigg not scoring so getting dropped being two examples.

Fair points mate, and I for one expected Grigg to be the final piece for sure.

I stand by my thoughts though, for all I’m not all about him going, I’ve lost all confidence. Our form since March is mid table, and nobody can deny that isn’t nearly appropriate.

10 wins in 30 games equates to about 14 in the season. That wouldn’t even get us in the playoffs mate. That’s a very real thing to consider.

I'm losing confidence tbh but not a lot and he's got some decent credit with me to cover any shaky patches as long as they're short. Let's hammer Bolton and the league table won't be looking bad, if we don't win and especially if it was as a result of Ross being too conservative I'll be worried.

Nature of the beast mate. 3-4 wins in a row and I’ll be back onside.

I’m just struggling to see it at the minute, and I do think the new owners will change it, regardless.

Be interesting to see what happens with them, I fancy Ross would interview well if they were to seriously consider keeping him but if not so be it. You could hardly be sore about it if we got someone like Dych could you, I just hope that if they decide to upgrade they do it right and don't set us back.

I wouldn’t be keen on Allardyce I have to say.

Liked him, different set of circumstances aye, but you can see his eyes lighting up at the thought of spunking the money from here, would be the wrong time for me.

Dyche? Absolutely. He ain’t dropping 2 leagues though, that’s fantasy island. I’m not sure where I’d be looking to be fair if he was to go. I’d imagine we’d be looking at Championship but nobody is pulling up any trees there at the minute.

There’s that to factor in as well, is there a great looking replacement, that’s realistic? Not screaming out at me that’s for sure.

I can say with certainty that we, as fans, don't fully understand what Jack Ross (or any manager for that matter) can and can't control. He will take the blame for things that are not his fault and he won't get credit when he deserves. He will have valid reasons for everything he does, and I doubt he's being conservative because that's how he likes it. All of his actions will be in response to some problem that has to be dealt with (in most cases the ability levels or lack thereof of players). Those problems will still be there if we change managers. They might deal with them differently but changing manager isn't like waving a magic wand, no matter who it is that comes in.

Cowleys would be the ideal choice for me but we've missed out on that.

Would have been close for me as well mate.

Without the Mag links, nailed on we’d be bringing Bowyer into the conversation.

I reckon under the right circumstances (like billionaire owners) the Cowley's would build you a dynasty. They have ambition in bucket loads.

Aye there's always a chance that a big name manager will give everyone a big lift long term but are they going to get Wyke and Grigg scoring hatfuls, turn Ozturk and Willis into league one Baresi's? Nah, probably not.

If we can get a few better players in January including an actually reliable goalscorer then we'll go up and be in a better position to review. Like Nads says we aren't getting Dyche to drop down to a team in fifth in league one but starting a new season in the championship with a hefty budget and rich owners will be a tempter for a wide range of managers Dyche included.

They’ve done extraordinary work. They look switched on and deeply into it, not by numbers at all.

The job they’ve done at Lincoln, well it’s sensational, I’m fascinated to see what they can do at the higher level.

You wonder if not being ex pro is a blessing, they are looking at it from a different angle and it’s worked out fantastically. Maybe more analytic than emotive.

If we brought a big manager in, do we think he would win the league, no questions asked, with the current squad of players? We might do, but it isn't a guarantee.

Yes Ross chose these players, but he did it while operating under financial constraints and got what he could. If we're going to give another manager money to spend then why not give it to Ross? If he'd had 5 or 10 million to spend over the summer, I'm pretty sure we'd have seen a few different players come in instead of only free transfers (not that they're all bad).

Yes last season was a bit negative in the way Ross setup. But this season, I think we've generally been more attacking and positive.
