Yeah, some would argue Hulkenburg lost it going into the corner and slid into Hamilton, but okay we'll say Lewis collided with him

Just rewatched- it was def a Hulk slide <laugh>

Still a little unlucky though, especially as Hamilton had locked up and took a really wide entry to turn one.

Hulk has had a couple of great drives at Brazil, putting the Williams on pole there that one year!

That will be good for us though, a real scrap. Much as I don't like Verstappen as a person, although his youthful arrogance is beginning to ease (or at least he isn't verballising it) I like the challenge he is throwing down, I genuinely think Hamilton will enjoy the scrap too. Vettel I am afraid failed us these last few seasons but a Ferrari may be in there too.

Didn't he crash in that one too
    Who would that be though?

He has seen off pretty much everyone on speed. Button had the measure on him on on consistency in his early days but he has sorted that too.

Maybe like Max, Vettel (certainly in his early days) and Alonso, that he is/was a step above everyone else and has no natural challenger when in the same team?

We talk about someone decent challenging him, but ever thought about whether that person would want to team up against Hamilton, or are they happy in their own team lording it up against their own teammate?

I'm not sure teams want two no.1 drivers anyway. Williams/McLaren etc have all thrown titles away because the drivers took points off each other and allowed someone else to win the WDC. A clear no.1/2 policy does seem to work, as bad as it may be for the general viewer.

Probably accurate based on his current driving, but to be fair to him in the past he has shown that he can do the business, whereas Hulk IMHO has never shown that.

yep, Rosberg had a mental change to beat Hamilton and that, in turn, caused Hamilton to have one too and he's got rid of the inconsistency. atm Max is probably the only guy in F1 that would push him (off the track). I don't think Alonso would any more.

They don't have to be on Hamilton's level... Button most certainly ****ing wasn't. If they can steer their car to second every weekend he wins, and score more points when he has off races or failures, then you have a challenger. Bottas has spells where you think he could do that, but his race pace is unilaterally abysmal.

His race pace isn't unilaterally abysmal, he's just not consistently fast enough. TBH I don't think Rosberg would've had a sniff of a WDC if Hamilton was driving then as he is now.

It is abysmal, so many times he goes backwards in races and is seconds off Hamilton's pace lap after lap. How have you not noticed? Genuinely at best 1 in 6 he races and the conditions just fit perfectly and he has a decent race, usually only when he is out front on a **** track, and the rest of the time he ambles around in his own little Bottas world. Why else were Mercedes considering his position?!

Rosberg had race pace, and he was less of a bitch in terms of Hamilton passing him. Yes, Hamilton had the edge, he is undoubtedly one of the greatest drivers of all time in F1, and yes, Hamilton has matured as a driver and really honed race-craft with experience, but you seem to be trying to justify Bottas' woeful performances in races by saying Hamilton is just above everyone now, and it doesn't matter who his team-mate is. I'm not sure that's true.

Just my opinion, but out of the current crop, contract impossibilities aside, I think Ricciardo would make an excellent contender in a Mercedes, and run Hamilton close.

Max would give him a run for his money, Ricciardo, maybe, but now you're asking for undisputed factory team's lead drivers to go somewhere they may find themselves having to play 2nd fiddle.
so far this season hi record is:
    won,
    2nd by 3 secs,
    2nd by 6 secs,
    won,
    2nd by 4 seconds,
3rd (monaco had to double stack and then got hit by Max on the way out of the pit and got a puncture.)
Canada he was miles behind, but that was due to his poor qualifying, rather than his race pace.
    2nd by 18 seconds,
3rd, but 20 seconds ahead of Hamilton,
    2nd, 25 seconds behind.
Germany he (and a few others) were crap
hungary he was scrappy at the start and lost his wing.

It's not as bad as you are making out.

Haas F1 Team Statement on Rich Energy
    Sep 9, 2019
Haas F1 Team and Rich Energy have amicably agreed to end their partnership together in the FIA Formula One World Championship with immediate effect. While enjoying substantial brand recognition and significant exposure through its title partnership of Haas F1 Team in 2019, a corporate restructuring process at Rich Energy will see the need for a revised global strategy. Subsequently, Haas F1 Team and Rich Energy concluded a termination of the existing partnership was the best way forward for both parties. Haas F1 Team would like to express its thanks and best wishes to the stakeholders at Rich Energy.

    Never saw that coming...….

HAAS confirm KM & RG for next year .

Can only think it's because of team " harmony " ?

What now for the Hulk ?

No idea . Maybe k Mag was talking rubbish when he said he would have no problem with Hulk as team mate ? They hate each other . I have read that Grosjean provides good feedback . Not much use if you keep crashing though ...

One of the most baffling driver decisions Ive ever seen. Grosjean over Hulk? Really?

If the issue was conflict with KMag, the answer was to ditch Magnussen as well.

Seeing some talk of Hulk to Alfa, but that seems pretty unlikely, guess he's out of F1.

I guess with Kubica leaving Williams. That offers one seat. But who would want it?
