A choice of the two and I know which one I'd rather win. Probably the best game that half the team could have picked to have an off day
We had a stronger penalty call in the first half. Difference is Salah didn't pin his feet together and flop to the ground.
Anybody who watched last seasons game should not be surprised at this result. Napoli are very tricky opponents, especially at their place. Both teams are essentially the same and the coaches are both savvy. On another day, this could have been a result reversal or 3-3.
I'm not surprised with how Napoli performed, I'm frustrated with how Trent, Mane and Bobby seemed to not be up for it!
It simply does not work. Whilst it was not the biggest reason for why we failed tonight, it just doesn’t contribute in any way.
Was frustrating. An off day....win on Sunday and all will be forgotten. I am concerned with our lack of depth though....this result makes it less likely that we can rest players later in the group stages if we really need the points.....we have 6 players who can’t be rested properly: front 3, full backs and VvD. It’s going to derail us later in the season.
Think I said something along these lines when the group fixtures were released; great that we get the hardest game out the easy immediately but failure to win means it's harder to test players.
I thought trent played quite well, neither full back was there usual attacking self. Nothing the front 3 tried came off, I reckon if we had got one I reckon it would have been flood gates but it just never came. It does occur to me that maybe the away record is starting to put pressure on them. The whole team looked stiff, there wasnt the usual fluidity
It's no suprise that we looked much better once Milner had gone of and wini came on. I do love milner but he shouldn't be starting
