I think it will be a lot quicker than that, Bob, especially if we get a deal with the EU promptly (even if after 31/10). They need a deal with us too remember. We'll save several billions each year by not paying EU service charges.

I get what you're saying, everybody is sick of it. I just wish there was an opposite of the 'yellowhammer' document for us to scrutinise. There isn't one person who says it wont be a bumpy ride ( depending on ones financial situation) hence the document to scenario it, whether base or worst case. Isnt there a 'bluepliers" document to tell the people what benefits will follow? That would surely put peoples minds at rest and even, dare I say, enable them to think differently. That would be a logical and sensible thing to do, wouldnt you agree?

Yes, I do agree, and I believe Michael Gove's department are working on a document that is "Likely scenario" rather than "Worse case scenario." But it is also true that with each week that goes by, the calamity of a no-deal is predicted to be less serious. Remember the scare stories about no aeroplanes flying? All gone quiet on that. I still believe there will be a deal. But it won't happen until the 11th hour

I should think there are good few French citizens who would rather forget some of the collusion and help that was given to the Nazis during the war. There was an interview on TV a while back with a Jewish survivor of the infamous ‘Drancy’ internment camp, where he basically said his family would still be here today if it wasn’t for the appalling actions of his fellow French citizens.....truly eye opening.

I do remember those stories yes. I remember lots of bullshit everywhere. What we need is the truth. A bumpy road could be so different for one person to the next. Should be an interesting document to read. Any sane, logical person/country should have produced this sort of material prior to a question been asked. That would make sense, rather than the bullshit we have heard. The lack of information astounds me. How somebody can make an informed decision is bizarre

Dreadful stuff Staines and I have seen the impacts of what France went through over the last 35 years ... it’s my thing
The French underground is still alive and kicking in my area even through new generations the hate still there for those who sold out to the Nazis

They don’t forget to an extreme that even some Germans get a cold shoulder.

I am treated well here but then again I am the new sheriff and having saved the hamlet from floods last year I am golden bollocks

Plus I had to deal with a drunk who was making trouble at the bar... I loved that knocked the ****er down

The Anglo Saxon is in us all even me and when called upon we do not hesitate

I read a book some time back about the retribution and revenge that was taken out on young French girls after the war, who had slept with German soldiers....real brutal stuff, tar and feathers, heads shaved, raped and some even murdered....I couldn’t help feel sorry for some of them who just happened to fall in love with someone they shouldn’t of, but at the same time could understand, though not agree with, the actions of people who were once so brutally oppressed.
    Fascinating stuff

They lost a lot the real French
My hamlet was a resistance base I was told
The Nazis never drove down the track according to my neighbour who is 95.
I have to try and avoid her if I am going out and right on time otherwise I am back in house and she starts up again regarding the war... she really gets emotional about the subject and very very angry

One thing she told me was that they used the secret tracks into the Pyrenees to smuggle people into and off the old Spain

Did you know there was a massive concentration camp near to Spain? They killed Gypsies there and it’s not mentioned much.

Yep I had two mates down and the worse flood of all time my hamlet was cut off but with some of rock climbing gear and my chainsaws we cleared the bridge of trees and a Fiat! ... the French watched from both sides of the bridge!

The French then turned up and you needed to witness it to believe it ... helicopters from EDF replaces 14 power poles and all telephone in 7 hours ... think Thunderbirds on acid .

EU’s Proposed Justice Commissioner Faces Corruption Probe
please log in to view this image

Belgium’s foreign minister Didier Reynders, was unveiled last week as incoming president Ursula von der Leyen’s pick for Justice Commissioner, has been named by a former Belgium spy as part of a corruption scheme. Awkward for a Justice Commissioner…
The former spy testified that Deynders was part of a “veritable criminal association” involving arms sales to the Congo and Libya as well as money-laundering and taking bribes. Naturally, the EU Commission has declined to comment on the revelations. Justice, EU style…
