Packing up the laptop tomorrow morning and heading off to deepest Buckinghamshire for a week. Got a lovely cottage near Great Missenden (been there a couple of times before) to chill out (again! ) and let the four legged dogs go mad in the secure lawned garden. Going to try something again that's worked before..... There's a great bungalow/cottage down in the New Forest where we've stayed several times - in fact, we just spent a fortnight down there in June/July. Again a brilliant location and large lawned areas for the dogs, and a Peroni friendly patio/terrace to watch them. Now here's the plan. At the moment as I write and looking on line, it's not booked for the week after next when we're due to return home. It's usually a Friday to Friday let, so a quick phone call next Thursday to the letting agents who I know quite well may be in order. If they don't receive booking by then, it's very unlikely they'll let it for the owner that following week. The owner gets zilch and still has to pay the management fee so usually takes a last minute deal. Half price springs to mind...... Not really bothered either way - either we travel back home next Friday as planned, no problem with that, or we head south to Brockenhurst in the New Forest for a bargain week in a beautiful place. Downsides? Well, I'll miss our home game against Middlesbrough and having to avoid the horse and pony **** can be annoying. This retirement business is a right bastard........
How's Brockenhurst Sparks? My wife's sister sent us a photo from Poole yesterday with weather looking good. Still scorchio here on the Algarve. It's hard work spending all day in the sunshine.
Having a few days in scotland chasing salmon. Set off at 4.30 this morning it was 13 degrees in cheshire. Stopped for a sausage and haggis bap not long after 7 and it was 4 degrees. Cold and windy all day. Salmon not playing either.
Not in Brockenhurst (yet) Bluey - still in deepest Buckinghamshire. Weekend was glorious sunshine Peroni weather, but a bit of cloud around today. Looks set to go back to full sunshine tomorrow for the rest of the week though. Will be going to the river at Marlow and Henley during the week, but I won't be doing any rowing - I'll leave that to Redgrave...... If the weather holds and ot looks good for next week, I'll be making that phone call on Thursday....... Enjoy yourself over there Bluey - you're a long time dead.
Looks like a bit of a north/south split in the weather remote pal. Glorious down here and looks like it isn't going to change. Whatever turns you on I suppose and I hope you get what you want on the end of that line.
I can neither confirm nor deny that at the moment. I'm waiting for the Supreme Court to confirm my future role tomorrow. Just because I'm on holiday chilling out. it doesn't mean that you lot have to come out in sympathy......
5 years in Thailand for me. I need a holiday. Oh, yeah. I'm off on a mini tour of Cambodia next month.
loved it when I was a kid in the 50s trecco bay was fantastic and Friday in the fair at half price ,it was like being in gods pocket.
Done deal!! - don't you love it when a plan comes together..... Not going home tomorrow now - got my last minute deal agreed this afternoon. Packing up in the morning and heading down from deepest Buckinghamshire to lovely Brockenhurst in the New Forest. ..........and the bonus is? No one booked in there the following week so agreed with the owner we don't have to leave there until week Monday - that's 10 days for the same discounted weekly let - it don't get any better... Like I said in the OP, the only real downside is I'll miss the Middlesbrough game, but I'll just have to live with that..........
I have to say, I can't abide Pattaya. It's Porthcawl on steroids! . I go there to meet up with friends who visit and get a little the worse for wear. I love just getting on my little motorbike and zip around the local area and seeing the real Thailand as well as the tourist traps. On your list the only place I haven't yet visited is Koh Samui, not sure I will get there before I leave Thailand. Cambodia is also very beautiful and the people are awesome. I have been to Siem Riep and that is a fantastic place to visit, although very commercialised these days. I am going to Koh Rong, a little island in the Andaman Sea, for some diving before heading to Kampot for some awesome food. Going to finish it off in Phnom Pehn for a few days.
