I honestly wouldn't bat an eyelid if Emery was sacked tomorrow. I've completely lost trust/patience with him.

Always after a home NLD : the Goon equivalent of 'always a speedboat' on Bullseye.

<laugh> **** off. At least Wenger would be a bit more gung-ho!

Jokes aside, I don't think it's unreasonable for me, or any Arsenal fan, to be calling for Emery's head. As far as I'm concerned, he's had long enough to imprint an identity on this team, and he hasn't done it. He's had long enough improve the mentality of these players, and he hasn't done it. He's had ample time to work on strengthening our defence, which he has proven to be incapable of doing. He's had long enough to truly transform us into a free-flowing, exciting attacking team, yet this is the most conservative brand of football I can recall in my lifetime. He's been backed heavily in the transfer market, but you'd think we still have the same squad from last year.

Making Xhaka club captain, despite his glaringly obvious flaws and fully in the knowledge of the backlash he's faced, was just pure insanity. And his substitutions simply aren't make a difference any longer. If anything, they are reducing our effectiveness. Xhaka and Mustafi aside, I think players we have are made to look a lot worse by the system he's playing and the instructions he's giving them.

I just can't see how he will turn this around. The writing's on the wall methinks...

Wait, what?! Is he the actual captain, or just one of the deputies?

Fair enough, I was going to say that it was a bit of an extreme reaction as surely you're only one result off a good start(like us) but I can't defend him if he's done that <laugh>

I don't think it's been made 'official' yet, but these quotes certainly seem to show that's the way we're heading:

    https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/14/unai-emery-hails-fire-granit-xhaka-leader-arsenal-10744618/

Still boggles my mind that we extended his contract last Summer AND have made him a senior captain within the squad. Honestly, this club frustrates the **** out of me.

At least we knew what we were getting with Wenger and, even in his last two horrible seasons, we still saw some brilliant attacking football on display on occasions. Whereas now, I couldn't even name 5 games under Emery that I've enjoyed for a full 90 minutes in the past year.

If say he was sacked, is there anyone you'd particularly like?

Allegri and Jose are probably the two big guns out of work at the moment. Gotta be honest, don't think Jose would fancy managing Arsenal, Allegri might as I think he fancies a crack in England. Or would you prefer someone who's on the up, like a Howe/ Nuno type?

Unfortunately, there's a distinct lack of quality managers out there who are available.

Definite no-no to both Mourinho and Allegri. Want to keep them far away from Arsenal as possible. No to Howe, as well.

Nuno isn't a bad shout, though. Wouldn't mind him.

I also wouldn't mind Marcelino. Valencia were 12th when he took over, then he gets them back-to-back 4th placed finishes, gets to the Europa League semi finals and wins the Copa del Rey against Barcelona in the final. They played some excellent football, too.

Erik ten Hag has impressed me with what he did at Ajax. He could be a shrewd acquisition.

Gasperini from Atlanta wouldn't be a terrible option, either. Got Atalanta a 3rd place finish in Serie A whilst playing aesthetically pleasing football.

I wouldn't even be averse to Freddie Ljunberg taking over. He can't do any worse than Emery. He knows the club inside and out. And he's got respect from youth players and the senior players.

Thought you’d quite like the idea of Allegri, think he’s a very sound and smart manager.

Marcelino and ten Hag could be interesting options though, the Ajax side that ten Hag built was reminiscent of the Monaco side Jardim built a few years back.
