Britain excels at making sitcoms, exporting worldwide and causing numerous people to literally die of laughter. Rest in peace. But which was the best British sitcom?

Excellent thread buddy. Wish I'd thought of this.

    I have voted rest assured.

Couple of honourable mentions - It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Allo Allo.

Dear John is an absolute favourite of mine. Such a shame it only ran to two series. Ralph Bates passed away too soon.

How about Shelley and The Return of Shelley? The brilliant Hywel Bennett was always worth a watch.

OFAH along with Porridge, Rising Damp etc are on a higher echelon, C. This thread is for those long-forgotten sitcoms that rarely get an airing nowadays.

This thread and poll are to decide the best British sitcom. Can’t believe I left Robin’s Nest out of the list.

As you will know, C, Minder is my favorite show of all. Utter class. But it's a comedy-drama.
