This ^^^^ I can understand that McCann is frustrated with the result, but it's plain to see that after a very good first half we seem to wilt fairly early in the second half, concentration seems to go, then we look a bit aimless and then finally as if we are holding on. It won't be popular to say it around here, but Burnsy's questions were spot on. The possession stats don't lie and we seem to give the ball away too easily at times. I'm not being negative as the first half effort suggests we have the potential. I really hope Eaves comes good, but boy do we miss Campbell!
Poor result and performance Things need to change very quickly. I don't feel he is getting the best out of the team. Is it the system or coaching I am not sure.
First time I have been to this season just a few observations: 1. The worst players yesterday where those from the division below. The Allam cost cutting continues, we are a sitting duck once Bowen and Grosicki leaves, especially in Jan. They are irreplaceable with our current chair idiots. 2. Bar the left back I thought on the whole the new signings are poor. Tafa what’s his face was terrible second half, unfit couldn’t jump and lost his man constantly. Honeyman did ok went missing for large periods. 3. Lichaj must have been injured he was very poor. 4. Eaves needs a goal, he did oright otherwise but we can’t miss as many chances and expect to win. 5. We looked terrible second half, lost infact. 6. Henriksen should have been on the bench, and should have come on. You don’t burn your bridges with a player of his quality, behind Stewart he’s out best midfielder. 7. They weren’t very good. 8. Garner is still a horrible bastard. 9. The ref was absolutely awful. 10. Hate going to a stadium that isn’t even half full anymore. All in all a very positive post!
On a positive note Elder looked very good and that means the only way Kingsley gets back in that position is if Elder is injured or suspended. That’s a positive for me.
Extended highlights for those with a strong stomach... https://www.questod.co.uk/show/efl-on-quest/video/efl-on-quest-140919/EHD_276263C
Really? He was oright first half. Second half he was second to every ball. If we come against a decent striker they will run rings round him.
I can't believe he missed that header , I mean he didn't even head it down on target he blazed it over the bar scoring those should be his bread and butter
Pretty good summary from what I listen to on the commentary, TigerTV not showing the game today. Was disappointed in McCann's reply to Burnsey about Henriksen, when Burnsey pointed out that he had played for Norway a few days earlier, so was clearly match fit, to come back with that remark like that, drops him down in my estimation of him. I get the feeling he is getting a bit big for his boots, and if he is not careful things will come tumbling down.
Nah...we're riding along on the crest of a slump..20th... 21st...Barnsley lost again today, but played very well according to BBC Sheffield and were very unlucky. 22nd..Wigan 23rd...Huddersfield 24th..Stoke I somehow can't see H'field staying down there...I can't see Jones remaining at Stoke much longer, therefore they're bound to get the old new boss bounce. That leaves us, Wiggy and Barnsley in the smelly stuff..
What worries me about McCann is this business of fighting all the time. Fighting to get in the squad, fighting to get in the team. You always get the sense that we are playing and training at 100 miles per hour. Maybe this constant pressing business means that we are tiring in the second half. What happened to going out and enjoying the game and expressing yourself. We have no goals coming apart from out two wide players. Would be good to see players in the midfield chipping in with a few goals too. Is McCann too reliant on this constant pressing. Players have to be very good to play like this all the time. I am not sure that all our players are up to his system. I will be delighted to be proved wrong.
Lets be honest, if this constant pressing game was what he used at DONCASTER ROVERS against leggy/ ageing 3rd division teams and players, he should by now have had a rude awakening to the fact that the championship with many teams personnel Is not far removed from that of the premiership. Teams quicker on the break, more skilful in defence and in midfield. He needs to adjust and adjust quickly and that includes playing your best players of which Henricksen is one. Its clear with the ones we've bought, we haven't unearthed another Bowen which I am sure was the plan of the boy wonder. As it stands, IMO he's all talk and little result...
Maybe Bruce & Adkins, even Silva, were no world beating managers, but the fact that all of them decided to bail out is more a reflection of the club ownership (profit driven without ambition other than recouping initial investment), than their own inadequacies. That's 3 in a row who have essentially resigned. They're not stupid. The current manager has ambition, not least for his own development, but he was hired as a last resort, both for himself and the owners. We are now in a downward spiral - the manager is grasping at straws in the realization that he's not going to be "supported to the hilt" of his own ambitions. I'm sure he's not without talent too. Another sucker entrapped in a poisoned chalice. 104 years (?) to get there. 5 years to **** up stability. Not a good scenario, Better teams than City have fallen by the wayside. Sad in truth.
