I like Terrys approach, it's entertaining and genuinely hope that once the lads get familiar with whats required and fully up to speed, we can move positively forward. Big concern for me, is that I've yet to see we've replaced Campbells goals; without Bowen and to a lesser degree Turbo, I can't see anyone else who could score 5+ goals in a season, may be Jackson being the only exception. So a team that gets on the front foot, gets into the final third more often than any other team in the division needs to be putting more chances away, otherwise the 'gaps' at the other end will come back to haunt us. So for me so far, encouraging but concerning given the points attained to date.
Google "Minder" - an ITV series. Check out the character played by Dennis Waterman. That should explain it. Great series - still available on ITV Hub and daily (no pun) currently being broadcast as repeats on ITV4. Here:
Season so far???..well ..as expected..league one players struggling to fit in..strikers struggling to score and me....struggling to care.
I think Terry needs to reassess his end of season target of the play offs. We have literally no chance of troubling the play off places. We are a mile off. Strikers that can’t score and a defence/goalkeeper that don’t look capable of a clean sheet.
I would agree with points one and two but the third point....'struggling to care'? As a Hull City supporter of some 50 years, that concerns me.We should all care!!
Hopefully Magennis comes good - Eaves seems to come right out of the Altidore, Proschwitz, Sagbo mould of numerous appearances and very few goals - miles off the pace for a championship striker
So far it’s poor and becomes more tedious with The manager talking bollocks. Even with Bowen and Grosicki it’s tough, without them it’s a relegation team. Hence, Jan is critical. I thought they would have gone pre season so maybe we get lucky again
The way we play we have Turbot and Bowen cutting in to shoot. Eaves, leaving aside the missed chances, is therefore a spectator a lot of the time down the middle.
It’s a results game and so far the results are not there. Points ratio is in the relegation territory. The manager talks a good game and we appear to be able to create chances but we are missing Campbell badly. Why we let him go is beyond me. What’s going to happen in January will define our season. It worries me that the manager seems unable to get a clean sheet out of his team and that is understandable given his current approach. If we lose the goals of our wide men we will be in deep ****. Let’s hope Eaves can up his game. His is missing chances that look easier to score and at present does look a league below. He did however have an injury disrupted start and may need a couple more games to get sharp again.
Really think the pressure will come to bear on McCann after the next home game against Cardiff if we don't do well and get some sort of a result, we appear to be consistently falling apart in the second half and a good team i.e. Cardiff will take there chances as Bristol city did and murder us. Have to admit I'm concerned ,I know its early days yet but to me we appear to be going backwards, I really hope for McCann sake we start to improve and improve soon.
Eaves was hardly a spectator yesterday , he had plenty of chances , he just didn't take any of them I do wonder if all the refs got a memo about him or something though because he seems to get fouls given against him al the time , whatever he does or doesn't do
he also needs to get on with it if he is knocked, pushed or pulled - too much standing moaning to the ref while play goes on
That’s definitely true. Bit like his poor finishing, it’s a confidence thing that is capable of being turned around. I took comfort yesterday that he got into three excellent scoring positions - sure he fluffed them, but at least he isn’t hiding.
