I like my holidays the days of the exotic and carrabean have gone
So we stick to the med and canaries we have as many as possible
We are off to Tenerife in November then cruise in February
Then it all starts again 3 weeks in crete in June
We like to book in advance and get best seats on the plane and choose accomadation
Unfortunately this means time between holidays is short and I need to watch my diet and drink intake so as to loose weight before the next holiday
It’s difficult cause I like a few drinks
But I’m winning at the moment
Sadly I’m out to day to a great friends funeral and will be meeting some very old friends I’m sure the drink will flow

Do you fancy adopting someone much younger, and less well off, than yourself, Vince :emoticon-0112-wonde
I (and Mrs. A.) would go on all of these holidays with you :emoticon-0148-yes:

Apart from a trip to Benidorm with the lads last year I haven't been abroad for about 5 years.. Our lass on the other hand has been on about 5 cruises and two trips to Florida in that time..

    17st today
Really struggling to keep this weight down
Had many holidays and ate and drank
I like my drink but try and be strong
Still try to walk regularly most weeks and make an effort not to eat rubbish
However it’s getting harder to sustain this weight below 17 st
I think I’ve accepted that if I can stay below 17 st I’ll be fine
How’s everyone else doing in the fight the flab

We’ll all drop a bit of weight when food rationing is introduced if this panic buying keeps going .

6'2" and (when I weighed myself this morning) 13st.12lbs.

Not too bad for someone who enjoys his food/drink.

For the past few years, though, I've been eating less and a lot earlier than I used to.

    Grrr 6ft 2ins and much nearer 16st

Problem other than I eat and drink too much is cos of the state of my feet, I am not so active.

Weight loss, it's easy to say what you should do, less calories in (eat/drink less) and more calories out (exercise more)

I do like a drink, but chocolate and biscuits my main problem.

Ditto, plus my legs get tired easily and feel as though they can't be relied upon to keep my balance.

Not a good state of affairs at all!!

You could cut my arms and legs off and I would still get to food. My mate was like that and he tried to swim across the river wear but a boat had to rescue him halfway across cos he had cramp in his ears.

All other things being equal, there's a lot to be said for timing of eating. Earlier in day is better, but also regularity of times. Not unlike when we (oldies) were growing up. Breakfast, same time after getting up, dinnertime same in week as weekends, teatime ( try telling mam or grandma that you want it earlier or later today!} and supper , set your clock by it... Old fashioned ways, but research shows that your body recognises a regular time eating pattern, and will prepare the digestion process to digest most efficiently, which helps with fat usage rather than storage From an excellent book, |The Circadian Code by Satchin Panda. I recommend a read, the body has more clocks than just the dark/light thing, and all aspects of our health and wellbeing are affected.

The way to look at it is that you're not on a diet. I decided to lose some weight and generally get a bit fitter/look after myself a bit better last year after my brother died. I changed my lifestyle in lots of small ways - had a couple of lime and soda as my first drink or two in the pub, cut down on the pints and switched to bottles. I more or less gave up poor quality convenience food at work (Greggs, sandwiches, crisps etc.) and made healthier alternatives at home that could be in the fridge ready to go as I needed them (soups, grains, salads and plenty of things like lean chicken, salmon fillets etc to accompany them). Had fruit & zero-fat Greek yoghurt for breakfast rather than cereal (it's amazing how much sugar is in most cereals - even the supposed healthy ones).

I also joined the gym, which was something I never in a million years thought I would do, and resumed taking long walks - which has always been a pleasure of mine. Had to push myself initially to go to the gym (fat bastard in the gym - not a pleasant thought) but gradually got to the point where I was there 4 or 5 times a week.

The one thing I refused to do was compromise or deny myself. If I wanted a curry/chinese/pizza, I had a curry/chinese/pizza - I was just sensible about how many and made minor adjustments the following day to mitigate it. I lost three and a half stones in weight, changed my body shape for the better and now feel much better in myself. I have cut down the gym visits as I'm pretty much in 'maintenance' mode now (although I'd like to lose another 4 or 5 lbs - the wife disagrees). I've dropped from a 38 waist to a 32, an 'XL' to a 'M/L' shirt depending on what/where I get it from and like myself a bit more.

IMO, the problem with 'dieting' and the diet industry is that it's designed around guilt and/or shame. **** that, if you want to do it just do it, but on your terms, don't feel as if you're suffering because that's a guaranteed way of rejecting all your good work and back-sliding. Keep it up and good luck.

tl;dr: If you want to do it, you can. If you don't you won't. Just be certain of what you want.

    Much the same as me
However I did no gym just walks
I’m trying hard to keep the weight off I’m never going to be slim
I try to eat a good diet but some times chips and takeaways happen
I just don’t drink pints and pints of beer
I stick to bottles and small cans
It’s hard but I keep making an effort

Just a bit light hearted info in these difficult times
    Still just 17st
    This is getting difficult
I like my drink and these past ten weeks has been very difficult
We still try to walk about 4 miles every other day
And food is hard to knock back but I try
I hope all is keeping safe
    And I will struggle on
