Swansea City v Nottingham Forest Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 14 September 2019 Venue - Liberty Stadium Kick off - 3pm Following their hard fought victory in a top of the table clash away at Leeds, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against Nottm Forest. As a result of that win, the Swans replaced Leeds at the top of the Championship thanks to Wayne Routledge's late goal that secured a sensational victory at Elland Road. Routledge struck in the 90th minute to maintain Swansea's unbeaten start under Steve Cooper and inflict Leeds' first defeat of the season. Marcelo Bielsa's side dominated possession but their finishing let them down. Going into the match both sides had won four and drawn the other of their five Championship games ahead of the Elland Road meeting. Leeds were top at the start of the day thanks to a marginally better goal difference than second-placed Swansea - and they started well. Mike van der Hoorn almost turned a stray Stuart Dallas cross into his own net while Gjanni Alioski and Patrick Bamford had two chances apiece. Swansea's response came from a free-kick after Jack Harrison was fouled on the edge of the area but Matt Grimes curled his effort into the side netting. Leeds nearly went ahead on the stroke of half-time when returning skipper Liam Cooper nodded a corner against the frame of the goal before putting the rebound over. The hosts started the second period as strongly as they had finished the first, with Bamford slicing an effort wide and former Swan Pablo Hernandez being denied by Freddie Woodman. Substitute Eddie Nketiah latched on to a through ball only to fire over the bar. The Swans felt they should have been awarded a penalty after Sam Surridge went down, but referee Darren Bond was unmoved. Nketiah almost scored late on, heading wide from Dallas' cross when under pressure from Woodman. It was to prove costly when Leeds failed to clear a corner allowing Routledge to fire home a low effort. The Swans are now two points clear at the top of the table, while Leeds drop down to third, below Charlton. Whilst the Swans were winning at Elland Road for the first time in 70 years, Albert Adomah was coming off the bench to earn Nottingham Forest a 1-1 Championship draw with Preston North End and extend their unbeaten run to seven games. Preston had dominated the opening 45 minutes and got the goal their pressure deserved when Billy Bodin bamboozled a defender and fired in from six yards out just before the break. Forest were much improved after half-time, switching things around in midfield with Samba Sow, Joao Carvalho and Adomah brought on. It took former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough winger Adomah just a couple minutes to make his impact, as he latched onto a delicious pass from Carvalho to steer Forest level. Forest are now in 10th place with 9pts, 7pts behind the Swans. Arguably the most memorable match between the two sides took place in May 2011 - the Championship Play Off Semi-Final Second Leg at The Liberty - a match that saw the Swans secure their place at Wembley: Turning to Saturday, I think that the Swans will maintain their good start and inflict Forest’s first defeat in eight games. 3-1 to the Swans.
This is going to be super interesting.... can we keep up the momentum? My heart says Swans win but I have a feeling this will be a draw, so I'll go 1 - 1. Prove me wrong please!
This really does have nil-nil all over it. Failing that we'll win 2-1. I don't think we'll lose as our first defeat will come wearing that yellow effort that's just been released.
Regardless of what colour we play in (and be assured Stereo it won't be yellow ) .I'm going for a win to us , maybe not comfortable but a win all the same. Cooper has demanded that the players perform to their best abilities and I can't see that changing any time soon. 2-0
We'll be alright then as long as the Forest manager hasn't demanded his players also perform to the best of their abilities !
Completely off topic....Bersant Celina playing against England tonight at St Mary's. Kosovo scored first but England winning 5-1 at half-time.
This is a tricky one. 1-1 I think although I would not be surprised to see us win 3-1 if things went our way. My Sept predictions are based on a 1-1 so I am sticking with that but please let me be wrong
If we have the manager of the month award just before a game we tend to be jinxed, when we play after the international break we have not appeared to play well and this ref had a shocker last year. If we get a result I will be really impressed!
