Ha. For god's sake guys, do you read that and think that's good news? Actually scratch beneath the surface...

Obviously it's from the totally non-biased Guido Fawkes (did you notice they couldn't even spell Liechtenstein properly?). Here are some numbers - here is the total amount we export (in billions):

To those countries we've made trade deals with: £40,733
To ONLY those countries in the EU: £224,788

We have made trade deals with exports valuing just 17% of what we currently have through JUST the EU. That is absolutely abysmal. But it's okay, because we have a great trade deal with the USA coming right?

Even if we signed a trade deal with the USA today, that would take us to just 46% of what we have with JUST the EU (that's ignoring all the countries we will lose trade deals with when we leave the EU). All with countries that are further away than our current trade deals.

Even signing a trade deal with the bloody USA wouldn't even help us reach half of what we currently trade with the EU. Does that not worry you in the slightest?

That article is bad news, not good news.

Although as an aside guys, you've been telling us for ages that WTO would be fine, so why are you so keen to prove we've got good trade deals?

And also, why are you happy for us to be a member of the unelected WTO but not the 'unelected' EU? If someone could answer that, that would be great.

Hey Rob - why are you so keen to tell us we're going to crash and burn? Do you really believe that, or is it just an extension of the remain concept about the "reality" of leaving?

It's a bit like having to walk down a dark alley at night. Some will fear the bogeyman is waiting to get them whilst others will just whistle their fears away to display a false sense of wellbeing.

Neither is necessarily the right approach, but I'll I'd rather whistle than **** myself every step of the way.

Because the numbers say so. Experts aren't all agreeing for a laugh - they have no reason to do so. I'm not sure we will crash and burn but even leaver politicians accept we are going to struggle like hell without a deal.

I challenge you to find me one quote from a leave politician saying that we will be better off with no deal before the referendum. They all know that no deal is daft, but they're changing their tune now because they know it's the quickest way of getting us out and therefore the quickest way of them being able to dodge more tax. It's no coincidence that JRM, Farage, etc have made an absolute fortune already from this.

Unfortunately mate, no amount of whistling, or British grit, or spirit of the war (absolute nonsense by the way) is going to fix the fact that we've completely shafted ourselves. At least with a deal, our trade shouldn't be hit too badly, I totally accept that. But without a deal it absolutely will, it's basic logic.

So is the deal worth the billions the Brussels mafia wish to take from us.

My opinion defiantly not, let's invest that back on our shores.

Just out of interest, you are so well informed on our trading with the EU, so if we are at present trading exports worth £224,788 To ONLY the EU (in billions), how much approximately would that drop to when we carry on under WTO, they surely won't cut us off, they still need to trade with us, do you think we would lose 50%/ 40%/30%/20%/10%, just give us a rough figure, you keep telling us doom and gloom, tell us so we will be prepared.

You do realise we've already lost more money than that? All of those apparent 'savings' from the EU. Gone already, and we've not even bloody left yet.

I've no idea. Neither do you. I'd bet that even a 5% drop would be pretty cataclysmic on the economy. But I'm not pretending that everything is going to be rosy because of our 'British grit and spirit'. Our best bet is to listen to the experts, where even the best predictions end up with us in recession. Also, it's (the most basic!) logic that if costs go up then sales will go down. I'll I've heard in retaliation from leavers is that I just don't believe in my country enough, which isn't an argument at all.

Rob's answer above is a reasonable one - he has no idea and can only project his own opinions based upon what he has read like the rest of us. He can't answer that question with any degree of accuracy because he's in exactly the same position as the "uniformed" leavers - nobody really knows and wont until it happens. The fact is your stance and promotion of either good or bad outcomes at the moment is mainly dependent upon your poiltical view - and I'm not talking about party politics here.

Those that see it as a catastrophe for this country to leave without some sort of crutch stuck under our arm by the EU will look to a worst case scenario. Others who just want out no matter what will be persuaded by their own optimism as to what can be achieved. That may well be misplaced, but if and until we leave without a deal, we'll not have a definitive answer to that for a few awkward years.

However, the monkey needs to be got off our back one way or another. Whatever the outcome, we must be enabled to move forward and have the ultimate sanction to shape our own destiny as explicitly expressed in a democratic referendum.

Banging on about people not knowing what they were voting for at the time is a cop out. We voted out and it should happen if possible with a deal that is acceptable to the UK and not just the EU. If a suitable agreement on a deal cannot be achieved, then we should just leave and get on with it.

Your post there is based on the premise that nobody has a clue. Fact is, some do have a clue, and those that do have a clue, overwhelmingly agree that economically would be up the metaphorical creek. So while you're absolutely correct about myself and ultimately everyone on this forum not knowing, you're not correct in your wider premise. Those who know, think we're going to struggle.

And people didn't know what they were voting for, not to the level we know now. You say it's a cop out. I say those against a second referendum because of 'democracy' is a cop out. There can be nothing more democratic than asking a population their opinion once again. And those against it would only be scared of it because they know they will most likely lose.

While we're at it... (minus the mugs bit, not my Tweet of course!)

I find tweeted text bytes by opinionated individuals on a mission to be absolutely pointless in a decent debate.

Your point about certain individuals and organisations being "in the know" is also seriously flawed - no one knows.

You genuinely believe.. that those who are experts on economy and UK/EU trade, have absolutely as much idea as you and I do? Your only argument is that, no one knows?

If that's what we're up against then that says it all really doesn't it.

You have no idea, brilliant that makes you mortal just like the rest of us, of course I have no idea and I totally accept that but that does not make my vision wrong anymore than yours is correct.

If Tony ' Warmonger' Blair , Baron Peter Mandleson or the treachorous independently prep schoolboy educated Jeremy Corbyn are the so called experts then I know who I want to listen and believe in.

Except mine is based on the experts' predictions. Yours is based on blind belief. So that automatically makes mine more valid, unless yours is genuinely based on evidence as well.

Fun fact for you guys. Did you know that before 2010, less than 5% of the population even considered our membership of the EU to be an issue? That's the power of the media for you. It's convinced an entire population. If they can do that, maybe they can influence the way they think too... and I include myself in that.

Mark Carney springs to mind. What an absolute prawn who's mis-forecast and proved to be wrong over so many edicts from the BoE that it's embarrassing.

He's not alone though, and the only way we'll find out how many other prawns there are out there is when we come out.

Great. One expert got something wrong. How does that disprove the wave of other experts?

Also, why have the Government been so keen on preventing the release of their own Operation Yellowhammer report? A few worst case scenarios for you right here:
    https://assets.publishing.service.g...est_Yellowhammer_Planning_assumptions_CDL.pdf

This isn't bull****, remoaner propaganda or project fear. It's pretty damn real, unless everybody is just going along with the same charade for the fun of it.

I was in Spain last weekend and overheard a guy talking to his friends and family. After complaining he could only find plain crisps in Spain said " just had a thought, after we leave the EU we won't be able to buy euros will we? " Embarrassingly he had a west country accent. Was it you JGF ?

Obviously no idea if, or the way the guy voted but it goes to show the man in the street is not informed enough to make such a big decision.

The worst was seeing those British immigrants living in Spain saying they voted to leave because of foreigners! How dumb do you have to be?!

I was reading these last few pages thinking, I’m confused not one spelling mistake, not one little i (weirdly an iPhone/IPad always corrects to capital I, before he blames predictive text)
Then I noticed he used the word stymie (I had to google it) I realised he’s copying and pasting again <laugh>

I hope you did, because I’m going to go back and check. So I hope I not wasting time. Love’s you City Wannabe
