I woke up the other day at about 9 oclock according to our teamaker clock (my side of the bed).Usually it's 8 am or earlier,, and I was going out, so started to panic. Mme asked me what all the fuss was about. Told her we had to get going, whereupon she pointed out it was now 0815 according to her satellite clock - which is ALWAYS right. (like Mme). However, my clock registered 0915. Then I saw the teamaking alarm was set to 1200. This only happens after a power cut, when both the alarm AND the clock are set to 1200 when the power recovers. The answer - the power went off either very quickly, so we didn't notice, or after we went to sleep, BUT...it came back on at 1100. I must remember this in the future!

Can't you abstain from this sort of backbiting and just have a bit of respect for someone who has just died ? Or do you have to drag everything down to your level ?

Morning all. Weather as normal. Met my new English neighbour yesterday walking his dogs and discovering the local footpaths and byways, taking a break from his DIY jobs. If you look at the maps from around 1800 you can see the same routes from one farm or hamlet to another. Little has changed. However you can see how some of the houses are no longer here. Our population of 20 was once nearer 100, mainly farm labourers and their families. With the advent of machinery lots of the jobs were lost, and some of the houses still standing have been knocked into one, whereas they were three or four small cottages. One of my barns was the workshop of the village blacksmith, his bellows are still there, and it was a self sufficient community with little need to travel. Over time that has all changed where some of the lanes have tarmac on them for cars to use. One thing they didn't have in those days was the Internet that allows me to look at these old records from the past.

I’m back from Spain late on Sunday. Give me a call next week or leave a PM (although sometimes I don’t spot these straight away).

I desperately need some back home, I put quite a few cheap Aldi shrubs in the other day, hopefully my grandson will remember to water the garden. I will not lay the turf until later in the year.

Last night your post was party political, tonight it is anti Brexit. Is politics now allowed?

Last night my post was not party political. There were Tory, Labour and Liberals at the thanksgiving service. "Reason and consensus and dismissive of tribal politics" is the exact opposite of party politics.
Tonight my post has no comment from me, it is simply directing people to something that the government was directed by parliament as a whole to publish. If you think that it is anti-British then it can only be that you have read it, and it worries you and you see the problems that are possible. As this is factual reporting, no political debate is not back for you I am afraid.
