Have to say I think Ferrari deserve credit for the switch to hard compound- I think that saved them in the end. It meant Le Clerc had to fight hard to fend at first but after that the race came back to him when Hamilton had worn his mediums away.

They haven’t got things right for a long time but they did today.

Vettel really struggling for confidence, his post race interview really had the air of a beaten man.

Certainly can't complain about this penalty for coming back onto the track this time, but lucky for him he only clipped Stroll and not harder contact.

Am sure a win will put his head straight again, but at the moment can't see one happening anytime soon.

Yes. With the pressure off, he is once again showing his ability. That said, I don't see any way back to a top team for him with having demonstrated his inability when the pressure is really on.

Youth is on his side, maybe a good psychologist can instill that mental toughness,or maybe he just doesn't have what it takes to fight at the sharp end. Time will tell, but Albon looks to have a bit more oompf.
It was a strange place to have a spin, not sure I've seen anyone lose it in the first part of Ascari, it's generally on the way out that the offs happen. It makes me wonder about the stability of the Ferrari, as it seems to me that both drivers have had more silly spins than everyone else. I think next season we may see Ferrari adopt the same aero philosophy as the rest of the grid and have the flow pushed to the edges of the car instead of centrally.

Nah. If anything it helped Hamilton get right on him. He lost out from his little excursion. What was naughty though was the block he put on Hamilton right after it.... But we want some good hard fights, so can't complain too much.

It really feels like Vettel is a spent force right now. Charles is clearly the quicker driver and surely they're going to give him all their backing from here on out. Not sure where that leaves Vettel going forward, but it's not fun to watch Vettel just fold up like this.

To me I think Vettel has a driving style issue that is destroying him from within.
What I mean is that since the Hybrid PUs came in he can't seem to extract the best out of them. It's almost like he hasn't quite got enough dexterity to 'manage' the throttle to the degree needed. He has way more spins on track than anyone I can think of. It's not like he gets out too far on the kerbs it's in the middle of the tarmac!
There must be something he's not getting on with as he is a great driver, just not in the Hybrids.

LeClerc had the corner covered anyway I think, so the little shove was unnecessary and risky, but don't think Hamiltkn was getting through there as he was only just alongside and not really in front for the first part of the chicane.

He learnt it from Verstappen. I thought Hamilton was a bit ambitious tbh

I felt Hamilton left himself out to dry, rather than Charlie doing it. He must've known he'd lost the corner. I had a wry smile, as I always do whenever he or Max complain about being forced off, or Grosjean calls someone else an idiot for crashing into him and putting him out.

The complaining is funny. Name me a top level driver in the history of the sport that doesn’t push that line. Possibly Hakkinen, but other than that...

I'm fine with a bit of forcing... Not so sure about chopping in front of other drivers. That was a little naughty. Hopefully a good rivalry is brewing.

Actually, although it did happen occasionally, rarely did one complain about another driver. If you include the earlier days when most racers were proper, gladiatorial gentlemen, there were loads for whom the only 'complaint' was an in-house discussion with mechanics in an effort to get more performance.

For instance - and off the top of my head:
I didn't know Fangio but I do know of his reputation. Another was Stirling Moss and perhaps the most obvious was Jim Clark.

However, I do accept that from the mid 70s up to the modern era, complaining has become progressively common, probably in line with an increase in safety and a decline in sportsmanship. Of course, complaining has become a symptom of our time throughout the western world of high (often unreasonable) expectation, but two drivers in particular are more responsible than any others for its emergence within F1…

Is Leclerc the first driver at the top that this board unanimously likes? I mean, other than Kimi... He doesn't count tho. :p

Looks that way. He gets some abuse from Lewis fans on Twitter though. They don’t like it up ‘em. One of them was causing him of exploiting Hubert’s death to get sympathy from stewards and for marketing purposes...

Hard to know what to say to that.
