Without trying to glamorise hooliganism, the animosity goes back to the 80's when their was serious trouble between the fans. I remember one fa cup fixture at their place was particularly naughty. I seen stabbings in the train station right beside where I was standing and also on the streets. Some of our fans buses had windows smashed and there was a huge mass punch up outside the ground. Was probably the worst trouble I seen in my days supporting QPR. I can honestly say a gang of about 500 QPR fans were involved in chasing and beating up Luton fans after the game. Think it was in response to our lot possibly killing (excuse me if I'm wrong) one of their fans at a previous fixture.

Luton had quite a reputation in the 80s, there was plenty going on between us over those years. You'd think after their demise into the Conference and the passing of time things may have improved. More likely to be trouble at their place rather than ours if there is any, it's a bit of a shytehole ground up there...

Sure I've shared this before but nearly 20 yrs ago I was invited by a Luton supporting fan to go to an FA Cup game at their place. 'Sit in the family stand', says he. Will be fine. No trouble at all. Had youngish lad with me and was def NOT fine. They identified a QPR fan and started on him. To be fair, one of their lot took this fella under his wing and then they laid off him. Vowed I'd never sit amongst opposition fans again after that and never have. (Sitting with Man U fans at Man U V Barca at Wembley doesn't count! ).

I was at that cup game. A lot of ours got knifed (stanleys mostly) before the game. What had happened went viral and it kicked off big time afterwards.
Every game I have been to, home or away, has been nasty. If you are going the next match, be careful they always attack pubs in numbers and always bring down their idiots.
A funny story though was from a few years back when they attacked the Pavillion. They sent in four nutters to throw some punches and then run out, thereby anyone running after them would get whacked by the hundred or so waiting outside. Unfortunately for them, their four nutters were spotted, beaten and held. The mob outside then came in to rescue their boys. Quite a number of the Luton idiots ended up in a large pile inside the double doors, The pool tables, and more significantly, the cues were most convientently placed there before the pub was refurbished.
    Be careful!

I was at the game in the 80's when it kicked off big time. Both teams were going for promotion, they were top, and we were on a magical cup run. There had been bad blood between us but that night was savage. Large Rangers firm caused havoc down the High Street chasing anyone who looked like a football fan and smashing shop windows en route. I think a song followed from that night, something about trashing their McDonalds.
The away end at Luton was open to the elements and towards the end of the game the brave boys of Luton were behind the stand throwing half bricks over the top. It was a busy night for the medical services.
The next game between the two teams saw a major skirmish between both firms at a London railway station when Lutons train arrived. There used to be a video online from the station CCTV and a number of the still images made the hooligan annuals that seemed to be en vogue in that era.
It was a pretty rough era to be a travelling fan back in those days and while people have always said you have the choice to simply walk away, well, it wasnt always quite that simple.

I assumed it was something to do with the relative house prices in the two areas.

On a different note my first away match outside of London was Luton, for an 8 year old it felt like going to the Midlands.
The only difference of opinion was in the banter we sang 'Rodney, Rodney' and they came back with 'Malcolm, Malcolm' or vice versa.
I have fond memories of that day all was good with the world albeit a drab match 0-0, I think.
For the whippersnappers our star player was Rodney Marsh and theirs was Malcolm Mcdonald.

for the luton game all our ex hoolies are wearing jesus wigs and beards and singing john lennon all we need is love so it should be a big loving but im hearing the brentford game could be pwopper naughty the harra gang are joining up with feltham and hanwell so im expecting absolute murders, please insure all qpr fans must be wearing colours so the qpr fans dont attack there own fans i can still remember that game at palace against wimbledon when tony hately scored our solitary goal as we lost 1-2 and we had taken 18 thousand fans it ended up in two groups of qpr fans clashing very badly and some got quite badly wounded i cant remember if anybody got arrested but the violence did spirral out of control the wimbledon fans just looked on in amazement

I always thought Luton hated us because they found Watford too difficult to spell and our names can be shortened to QPR

Hang on here - Luton at Kenilworth Rd in April is one of the 2 matches I was hoping to see this season - the alternative is wait a week for Millwall at Loftus Rd and even I know what that could mean. I was looking at Luton to see 2 matches and avoid Millwallesque hooliganism

I was talking to one of their herberts and he thought the animosity started when Mike Keen joined them. Personally think it's because both clubs have an ''element'' attached to the clubs<doh>
