I take your point, I just felt last season he did play more consistently, and I guess it would come down to whether he is better than Batty or Honeyman, I guess there is not much between them all, it all comes down to the balance of the team.

Another squad player available to us , Batty has already been injured and I can't say I've seen enough of Honeyman to know how good he is

Henriksen is probably the best midfield passer we have in so far as he doesn't tend to give the ball away much which is exactly what's required - our present midfield are average passers at best

If only Irvine could pass the ball he would be an excellent player, but he gives the ball away too often.

He's one of those who if he was better technically he would play at a much higher level. He has an eye for goal that some more skillful players lack, and his all round game is strong.

What sort of 'reasonable price' was being asked?

It was actually £6m, which is nowhere near reasonable.

I thought the £3 million offered by one of the interested clubs was one that City would have accepted:

I understand where you are coming from, but we started off badly last year too, and made a decent effort, all things considered, in the end. We have a new manager, new players, I think 6 games in is a bit early to judge and I will give a bit more time to McCann. If we’re in/close to the bottom come Christmas, then we have cause for concern. Our home form is where we need to improve imo.

I think he's not worst player in current team roster. It's strange situation overall. Especially if there are no secret injuries.

That article doesn't mention anything about why he hasn't been playing except that he was expected to leave the club
and Grant McCann was planning for the future.

Henriksen's playing for the U23's today, hopefully a step towards his first team return.

On Saturday someone said that Henriksen is very close to additional bonus payments linked to games played. No idea if there’s any truth in that, but it could be a reason for his exclusion?
