whith Eisa gone who will produce that bit of magic? if we go to plan B who will be the left winger (i know we have giles but he will be going back at the end of the year)

"Abo has got real, real good ability and is a player that I see so much potential in,” said Ricketts.

“It’s why I was so keen to see him play games in the second half of the season which he did.

“He’s shown the reason why he’s highly sought after. There is interest in him because he’s a good player but he’s one I want to have a look at and see where he’s up to."

Yet fourty eight days later he has been sold, surley we should be keeping the players with potential!

in a few years he will either be another mark pugh / Bradshaw and there will be much gnashing of teeth or his potential will not materlise.

Eisa has not been able to convince four different managers that he deserves a run in the team and is 23 so it is unlikely that will change any time soon. He even lost his place in the Colchester team last season so I suspect he is just one of many players over the years who flatter to deceive. Both Bradshaw and Pugh put in better performance when they were with us than Eisa ever did and it is an indictment of the coaching at our club that both improved significantly when they went elsewhere.

Cummings signs permanent and Lang signs on loan. Two young players who both know where the goal is. Just what we needed - welcome to both players and well done to Ricketts for getting them in. On another tack, could it be possible that Grant is forgiven and integrated back into the squad - surely it makes no sense to keep paying his wages when he is not playing. Some mediation with the players union is needed in this situation.

See Grant now has gone to Swindon on loan so he clearly has no future with us. He will be one hell of a player in Leaue 2!

it is a pity that grant has gone , good news about the forwards Cummings was decsribed as the forest flop by a transfer sight but in todays media how quickly people can be written off, on the b&a there is a clip of him trashing his own flat after his girlfriend split up from him. let us hope he can get things back on track as he has proved in scottish football that he can score goals, welcome to both of them , however it would not matter who we had up front as we now need the midfield to improve there distribution and create more chances

I think Norburn will improve the midfield when he returns - we are missing his drive and athleticism at the moment. Laurent is a must-start for me so that would leave the third midfield spot ( assuming we will play 5- 3-2) as the playmaker for either Edwards or Goss. Having said that I hope we switch to a 4-4-2 as that would enable Whalley to play in his proper position. I am not sure either of our wing-backs are good enough at the moment. Giles is talented but is getting caught out in the wrong position too often while Love is a good defender but his delivery and shooting are very wayward.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Norburn is back as Goss has become a starter.

I thought Goss was good against Burton but was poor and off the pace at Ipswich. He clearly has ability on the ball and is presumably still in the process of getting fully match fit. At the moment we seem to have too many generals in midfield and not enough foot soldiers and I suspect a reasonably fit Norburn will always start under Ricketts.

"Ricketts has been supported financially in the transfer market this summer after a meeting at the beginning of the window, where he made clear his aims to chairman Roland Wycherley and chief executive Brian Caldwell."

    https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...-ricketts-happy-with-shrewsbury-town-backing/

"And the backing stretched right up until the deadline as Town made a late double swoop to bring in Callum Lang on loan from Wigan and the transfer of Jason Cummings – who cost Nottingham Forest a reported £1million two years ago."
