So Man Utd and Real Madrid's greatest striker of all time is dissing us once again:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49561603

Poor Mikey couldn't take it when we called him a waste of money, and he "reluctantly" agreed to join us after he couldn't go back to his beloved Liverpool (because they didn't want him and their fans think he's a **** too).

So whilst yes we can slate Mikey all we want to, what type of due diligence is the club doing in regards to medicals and whether the player wants to actually play for the club of the paycheque.

He is correct in that we are only a big club in respect to the size of stadium and fan base, you know part of the criteria to be classed as a "big club", but if players are mererly here for the £££ and not a will to be successful it says more about them than the club.

I almost respect his honesty, we all knew it was a strange move, although not quite sure where he was planning on moving up to from Real Madrid!

He took the club’s money and laughed in our faces.

He can’t take the fact that he was rejected by LFC initially when he was transferred out... and the second time when he signed for us.

He could have been much more as a player but he sadly wasted it.

    I don't blame Owen.
I don't blame Souness either - he told them Luque and Owen were a waste of money for 26m combined. He wanted to sign Boa Morte and Anelka. Not sure about Boa Morte but he'd have struggled to be worse than Luque. And it sickens me to think how good Anelka would have been in comparison to Owen. For 4m less. He was class at Bolton and Chelsea thereafter.

I fully blame Shepherd who was only interested in delivering the marquee player he thought the fans wanted and more importantly would further cement his legacy. He was a useless **** was Freddy. **** that Owen never wanted to come, **** that he was moreorless finished as a player due to injury, **** that our precarious financial position should have dictated we didn't waste huge sums on players who didn't want to play for the club, **** that they were on deals we couldn't actually afford. As long as his ego was massaged everything was ok.

We repeated the same trick years later with Thauvin so the current owner didn't learn from the mistake either. Though his wasn't an ego thing. Turned us down three times because he didn't want to come, until we finally offered him so much money he couldn't refuse. Worked out well...

True, Souness distanced himself from it, and it was all a Shepherd ego signing......HOWEVER it doesn't make Owen any less of a ****, we paid him a fortune and stood by him through injury, and he spent 4 years playing like he wasn't interested and didn't give a ****, then has the nerve to bad mouth the club and the fans continuously after he left.

He tries to make out it was the move to Newcastle that ruined his career, but the simple fact is he was already a has-been by the time he came here, and we were the only club stupid enough to offer him a fat bulging pay check.

I remember in another interview when he was predicting out score against another team, he had the nerve to say "I have found memories about St James's Park, having scored a hat trick their for Liverpool". ****.

The good thing is, his beloved Liverpool hate him as well. Expect his forthcoming autobio to be full of bum licking towards Liverpool, full of accounts of his "glory days" at Man Utd, and vilifying us for ruining his glittering career.

Nothing he said was bang out of order.

Would anyone suggest Newcastle are bigger than Everton or Leeds? I wouldn't. And he did move to Man Utd right after us, a huge step up.

We signed an injury prone player, blamed him for getting injuries then yelled at him for taking money he was being handed.

He's a ****, but we can be just as bad.

It must be very painful when you desperately want to be considered a legend but almost every other person thinks you are a twat Michael Owen. Too bad; but there's nothing you can do about it now.
Accept that you are a twat and always you will be.

I remember him on Robbie Savages show slagging off Stoke. Just criticised the training and how boring it was, he was lucky a premier league side was even looking at him.

No grace, no shutting up and cracking on, just quit on them and complains on telly.

Indeed he is a ****. Being blunt though our fans pick and choose. Take Craig Bellamy. Many still have a lot of time for him and blame Souness. Yet no footballer has slagged us off as fans and as a club more. So our fans have massive double standards. When this is queried the best they can come up with is "yeah but Bellamy played well for us". Er Owens record at Newcastle was none too shabby given he played in such a poor Newcastle side. That **** Bellamy feigned injury too because he was gonna have to play on the wing, then lied about it trying to use his relationship with fans against Souness. I was no lover of Souness but Bellamy was a massive **** end of story. Yet the fans try to put a spin on it because of they didn't want him to leave.

Both Owen and Bellamy came along in the era of footballers taking all the power. The shift was happening then, with the likes of Shearer at the forefront too. That clause Shearer inserted which meant no one earned more money than him or bribing England by privately threatening to refuse to play, Shearer was a bit of a **** too. I have a few stories about Shearer and money which make him a less than palatable character.

So I must admit I stopped putting much credence in peoples love for our club and whether you should still like them or not after ****ish behaviour. Otherwise I don't think I'd like any of them.

Bellamy was a prick and a raving psycho, but put everything in for us, and Robson (just about) knew how to handle him, we were a different team with him in and he was a big loss at the end of the day. He left under a black cloud after the Souness debacle, and was a right little **** with the text messages to Shearer, but the huge difference between him and Owen was he wanted to be here and gave everything; Owen didn't give a ****, put in zero effort and when he wasn't crocked, wandered around with his head up his arse believing himself to be massively more important than those around him (he might have been when he arrived, but by the time he left, Martins and Shola were ahead of him in the pecking order).

As for "not saying anything out of order", yes he ****ing has, we paid him £120k a week for years, and he's trying to palm off his nosediving career solely on us.

I actually want to read this book, to see how he talks about his 3 glorious years at Man Utd, and how after awful Newcastle nearly ruined his career, he became the star striker for the biggest club in the world.
