Well today is Transfer Deadline Day again and it should be a good indication of what the goals and intentions of S.D., C.M & J.R. are. We have been desperate for a left back for eons, today will see clubs hiking their prices as they did with Will Grigg in January. Will the Clubs Hierarchy show their intent and meet those inflated prices to secure the services of a QUALITY left back or wait and go bargain basement and take a Loanee as far too often has been the case. Will Grigg cost us more than he should have and the fact that we paid it shows that we were serious in our promotion push, (it's unfortunate that it didn't play out the way that we wanted) but the fact remains that we did show that we were serious. Now it's time to make that statement again for the coming campaign! Having seen the Lads so far this season we have a couple of the same problems hanging over from last season:- We are not Brutal enough in putting the opposition to the sword. We do not defend as well as we should (no clean sheet this season!) which is not a trait that bodes well for promotion. We create chances but rarely capitalise on them, and only manage to draw or win by the odd goal (Mostly) We play too many 'Good" players out of position and wonder why we struggle at times. In short we need to balance the team playing the players in their correct positions and to their strengths, We also need to develop a RUTHLESS Streak and start scoring more goals like those around us. A 1-0 or 2-1 get us the three points I know, but if we could Gel and start hitting 3 , 4 or more it would put teams on the defensive more and not encourage them to get at us so much. Its time for the 'Management' to put this right, square pegs in square holes... Get us a proper Quailty Left back and at least and strengthen where J.R. thinks he needs it. Come on Stuart, Charlie and Jack.... You have done well up till now, don't blow it for the sake of a couple of signings Please.
Vincent company would be perfect !. I hear we will get Maddison in January or if the new owners get cracking it might be tonight.
If we are going for Sinclair I hope it didn't just occur to them today and they've been working on it.
Bolton are bringing in **** loads of players. Sounds like Daryl Murphy and Doodoo from Rangers are on their way now. They'll have a half decent squad to kick on with. The EFL can't allow this to happen again because there's a few teams in the league that have basically had a free hit against them and greatly improved their goal difference and points tally also.
That's a good point Saffy, hadn't thought of it like that but your right the five goal thrashing could dry up after today.
Well thats it then, 5 past 5 and the window is shut unless we have one going to the wire and the papers have been submitted we will get 2 hours to complete the deal but haven't heard any rumours of such. So 1 left back today, what do you think of the business done this summer then?
Jack's pretty much got competition all over the squad so I'm happy with that. Get one or two up to speed the next two weeks and go again.
Happy with what we have, looking forward to see how we do with left and right backs in proper positions. We just need to Click fully and find a ruthless streak as I mentioned earlier, start slamming the ball in the onion bag for fun.....
Teams above and below us got stronger today. We got weaker. No way Ross gets his 20 clean sheets now. We better go up this year - anybody notice the bottom three of the Championship table.
