I cannot fully understand why that goal was given as OG instead of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Anything to do with VAR?
The deflection occurred so close to trent kicking it that it would be hard to tell where it was going.
Yeah, that cross was defo not going in before the deflection. Don't know if anyone picked that up live, I certainly didn't
I'd say Bobby is the most important attacker. We aren't that same without him. When he's missing, we struggle. Remove one of Mane or Salah and the other becomes less effective because the opposition concentrate on him. I believe Mane is the "best" attacker I don't know who the most important or best is when considering the whole team though because of VVD!
All the arguments about strikers needing to be selfish in a way and yet the brilliance and best aspect of ours over the last few years has been how unselfish they are at times; always looking to play another through and work together. I don't want that to change due to records, greed or ego.
The fact is we have a good combination. Two selfish and greedy forwards and Firmino who is selfless. It's the best way. If all three were selfish then we would have a problem.
I expect we'll see Mo passing a bit more in future - for a while at least. Regardless of what Klopp says in public, he won't let anything upset the team spirit and I expect words to be had.
#bbcsalford are trying to call it a "meltdown" but the whole thing was over before Phil McCunty could unlock his phone please log in to view this image
Let’s get this clear. We want Mo to be selfish, if a chance falls on his left foot and he has options, we do not want him to pass! But on two occasions at the weekend, a shot wasn’t on but there was an easy pass to a team mate in acres of space. Instead of making that pass, Mo tried to engineer a chance on his weaker right foot. That’s wrong and it is only this aspect that we are talking about. Otherwise fill your boots lad.
I reckon his first season and all the adulation went to his head. The golden boot with kane was telling, kane was obviously desperate for it but so was mo, he just hid it better. All last season was the same, people in better positions but his head goes down and he just wants to go alone. It's starting to grate on his team mates now. In his first season, teams where terrified because when we broke all three where everywhere, the ball would ping between them until the trigger was pulled. Now if the ball hits mo in a half decent position you know hes going alone.
Well, I'll be clear on my opinion. The team comes first. If a striker feels he has as good a chance as anyone of scoring then of course he's entitled to go for it. If someone else is in a clearly better position he should pass. However, it isn't always simply a case of being selfish or not - it can be down to decision-making. A player can have all the natural talent in the world but can still make the wrong choices - perhaps by not seeing the right ones, or by simply wanting to do well. Mo is a great player and I love him to bits, but perhaps this is a part of his game he could improve on, just a little.
Changing the topic to a slightly more positive subject... Fabinho as started 32 league games, lost none and gained 83pts. #braziliangeneral
If you apply that points per game ration across the entire season, we’d end up on 98 points (98.5) - let’s hope he stays fit!!
I think you could apply the same formula to most of our players and get a similar outcome considering our last 14mths
