3 at the back hasn't worked in over 18 months. Or, to put it slightly differently, it worked briefly for the last few games of 2018 when Trippier was still a footballer and Dembele could still move.

We don't have the equipment at FB or CM to utilise the system and I hope Poch realises that. Once Tanguy and Sess are up to speed it does open the door to that formation once more. But for now, either we go for a really combative 433 and basically play for a draw:

    Hugo
    Toby Dave Jan Rose
    Sissoko Winks Alli
    Lamela Kane Son

Or we go for it a bit more with a 4231:

    Hugo
    Aurier Toby Jan Davies
    Sissoko Winks
    Lamela Alli Son
    Kane

Sissoko Winks in the middle means a predictable afternoon of sideways passing and great tackling but bollocks passing and shooting

Attackers need to be up to speed...Kane needs to wake up. One of Moura/Son on the bench or we have zero coming off the bench

We try to play a wingback game with 2 dud wingbacks...therefore won't work.

Dele will be a bit rusty if he plays.

    ****in shambles

**** organisation and it stems from the top

They can all **** off if I see no fight today

Kane seems to be dropping deeper more often these days, due to the lack of service. I see more of the same today if we start Sissoko and Winks, and if Eriksen is left out.
Therefore Son and Moura have to start, IMO. Arsenal’s defence isn’t particularly inspiring, and I think those two could cause real problems. However, if we only play 1 of them, I think we’ll see a situation where they will be closed down quickly, and where Kane is marked out of the game as usual, preventing us from putting together any sort of meaningful attack.

Got a mother of a hangover. Really hope it’s not made worse today.

Bit of fight and a bit of style please, lads.

Getting a bit tense about this

We had better turn up...that's my fear...us not turning up. Win/lose/draw...we have to turn up.

    I'm off to the shops

Agreed. It was the lack of fight against Newcastle that hurt most. I don't mind seeing us lose. We lost at City last season but put up one hell of a struggle. If we lose having given 100% across 90 mins, I'll applaud the team off every time.

    I understand your thinking Roo

    However, I see this.

We will go behind quite sharpish as is the trend with us...then that's us done and Kane will spend the rest of the game in midfield, forcing things... doesn't change.

It's best everyone puts me on ignore today I think

But if we go behind early, that makes things worse. We’re going to need the players on the pitch who’ll get us back into the game. We won’t be making early substitutions if this is the case, so we need to make sure we start with players who will potentially score us some goals. Not to mention as much pace in the team as possible.

Nothing coming off the bench if we have both our runners starting...by the time we need a change of plan it's about the 60/70 mark. Both our runners will be knackered by then if they start and we will just have to endure the same struggle.

I agree with you in theory I'm just saying in practice I find it to be detrimental due to what I just said

Or we use them from the first minute to take the sword to arsenal, and when we’re winning and they’re nakered on 60/70 mins we bring on Lo Celso to tighten us up a bit? <whistle>

After all, to dare is to do!

Can't eat despite being on a diet. Gonna watch the Belgian GP to take my mind off of the footie, RIP Anthoine Hubert, far too young to go.

Good to be pessimistic today. It's much worse when you expect to win like last week.
