It's the classic situation of trying to prove himself. Rather than trying to beat everyone, there are things that are more simple that he can do better. Still a starter for me every day of the week- his energy and ability to beat a man must be a nightmare to defend against. Him and Joelinton have great movement so I'm sure it'll click at some point. I'm really enjoying watching Joelinton. He's a classy player who can hold it up but also doesn't seem to lose it too often. Quick feet too!

Those two are good. I didn't know much about Joelinton but I've been quite surprised. We've found a good one there. We are missing squad depth up front though as still feel we are severely short of goals and a classy CM.

Yes, agreed. I'd keep Muto as a third choice and Carroll as a fourth choice (and something different!). You'd then sell Gayle for £12 million ish and then want to spend £20 million on a upgrade, and second choice. I like Longstaff and Hayden a lot but agree that we need a Cabaye esque player that can dictate play. You'd then have a solid defence, players in Longstaff and Hayden that work incredibly hard, someone who can control the tempo and then lots of movement up top.

I'd say longstaff is to fill that role eventually he had the ability to do so but clearly needs to develop still. But in the meantime still one of our better players. I'm also glad for hayden continuing his form from last season. With the right run of form that partnership could be really valuable. My worry is if either is injured. Ki and shelvey have no running in them.

You said you were in the Play Club in your original post. I assumed that was the Children’s section.

Match of the Day saying your goal shouldn’t have stood, or should’ve been turned over by VAR. Glad it happened like this, because I’ve been saying this rule is a load of bollocks, and I would’ve been well pissed off if we’d had one like that disallowed.

It’s going to be interesting to see who’s going down, but I don’t think it’ll be either of us.

After going down early doors did anyone notice the 10 min period we seemed to go 4-5-1? Dummy shifted to LB, Willems up to LW and Atsu moved central into the AM role? Was only 10 mins or so but it seemed very noticeable to me, didn't work so switched back quite quickly.

1-1 vs Watford was probably fair result at the end of the day, we had he better of the game but apparently were fortunate with the equaliser - did say it was going to be a typical relegation threatened scrap with a low score draw or a winner by the odd goal.

Almiron - what can you say? You can see the frustration and doubt creeping in now! Needs one to bounce in off his shin or something to get the monkey off his back. Had a glorious opportunity that a player with confidence would have put away first time but he took a bad touch and fluffed it. Work rate you can't fault - almost need him to slow down sometimes but needs to start finishing/assisting quickly.

Defence were pretty solid and typical goal we conceded where it deflects and ricochets off 2 players before falling to the opposition 8 yards out. Thought Manquillo did well coming on as well. Midfield Longstaff is still off the pace a little and Hayden had a quieter game but still made some great tackles and was unlucky with the stupendous shot from distance. Joelinton will get there, may take time though, 1 goal in 4 is his record so he's probably around his level atm, just need to get some of the wingers like Atsu (who again was impressive - obviously been drinking his milk in the off season) and Almiron scoring and to support the lad.

International break and then Liverpool mean we might as well all take a break for 2/3 weeks... Brighton after that is a huge game!

Totally agree. He needs to slow down, put his foot on the ball and get his head up a lot more. Once that first one goes in you'll instantly see the reflief on his face, hope it happens soon. He plays far too deep for my liking, i'd much rather see him in the final 3rd most of the time. He draws a lot of fouls and we need them to be in and around the oppositions penalty area, not down by the touchline in front of the dugout! He'll come good for sure.

Exactly - I do think him playing on the right doesn't give him as much freedom though, as Krafth seems to want to sit back the furthest out of any of the full backs - Willems and Ritchie on the left seem to play almost as a LW when in possession and allow the winger to drift inside where as Krafth doesn't seem to get past the halfway line with the ball and therefore isn't allowing Miggy any support or opportunity to get in alongside Joelington.

Nothing though, absolutely nothing, can forgive that miss vs Watford - confident players score that 9/10 times.

You gotta feel for Almiron. He does so many things right but has allowed his wait for a goal to affect him mentally. He is trying too hard for a start but that excuse only washes so long. At this level you need to deliver or you can have an entire career at a club ****ed before its really started. I still expect him to come good and I hope him/Joelinton are working night and day to develop a partnership because they have zero understanding at present. I still think bringing in his big pal Josef Martinez would be a good idea. We need that type of striker as well as Joelinton.
