In the absence again of a Masky matchday thread, a simple question for this one. As to other than the two extreme opposites of a humiliating defeat or a blitzing win, what would be acceptable? A good improved performance from the team on the pitch and the management off it, but then ultimately losing an exciting game to a better side on the night? An ugly determined defence of the point we start with, to the extent of a brutal but efficient draw and the resulting point it would bring?
I like the idea of the second option. The first option is no good for my nerves. That said I suspect the result could be an extreme win and not in our favour
We blow hot and cold with Fulham. They mullered us 2 seasons ago as we did to them last season. They’ll really fancy their chances given their vaunted attacking but supposedly our strength is in defence! If Tomlin and Glatzel have good games and our defence performs I can see us sneaking a win but given Glatzel hasn’t scored in 4 games and our defensive displays this season have left a lot to be desired, I’m not that confident. All I can ask for is a totally committed performance. If we lose then it won’t be too great a surprise but gutting all the same. At least Ryan Sessignon isn’t there any more but his younger brother is
I think this is an ideal game for Tomlin, he may have more space to work his magic. Having said that, if the Cottagers are on their game, I fear a bad loss. Our slow CB pairing and Joe Bennett has been poor thus far. Peltier had an ok game on his last outing. I can see Fulham hitting the wide areas, and exploiting the gaps. They know they will have more of the ball and that will suit there game. Today, I think they will be too strong for us.
At home watching on Sky, that Ball for Mitrovic should have easily been cleared. Mozza has had a really good game so far but I can only assume he thought Smithies was going to come out and smother it... otherwise it was a really bad case of Ball watching and flat footedness. We were more than holding our own up until then. Oh, and funny how Fulham seem to be aimlessly hoofing it forward fairly frequently. I thought that was just us that did that in the entire league?
Im at home listening on radio wales. Colin made the point on saturday how many long balls blackburn played, more than we did, but no mention from press or fans. I see big Sam came out in support of colin today. Had a dig at Blake as well. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...-allardyce-delivers-emphatic-defence-16838944
Mixed feelings about that. We looked OK but should have taken advantage of the extra man a lot more. Still, unbeaten at home and starting to pick up points away from home, not a bad basis to build from.
