The price of the club shouldn't be an issue, as the owner should just get the quid back that he paid for it.
He's being a twat and expecting more than that, though. The debts are going to kill them off, if he doesn't stop being a prick.

    Classic 'gobsh*te privilege' (TM) .
How much of his not modest personal wealth is he prepared to cough
up, regardless of how much of a prat the current owners may be ??

Such a shame that 2 clubs with such a history should end through mismanagement and greed.

Absolutely. People rushing to lay the blame on the PL's doorstep, demanding some form of sporting socialism where the wealthiest clubs are made to bail out the smaller clubs are completely missing the true nature of the problem: the EFL's fit and proper person tests are nowhere near the standard they should be. Arguing that greedy, incompetent owners should be given even more money is the equivalent of me giving my kids more sweets to eat after they get tooth ache.

What is also ludicrous is the fact that the takeover deadlines were set well after the season kicked off. What moron had that brilliant idea? League One could be down by 2 teams by Thursday morning. It'll be utter chaos.

I as you know have a great interest in lower league football, and I find it terribly sad that we are likely to lose both Bury and Bolton-

However whilst I do agree that more money could trickle down from the premier league to lower leagues and grassroots football, the premier league is in no way to blame for the demise of these 2 clubs who as far as I can see have both been living beyond their means.

Expecting premier league clubs (or even players) to bale them out is ludicrous and unfair on clubs who are being run 'properly' and its a bit like asking Tesco to give hand outs to corner shops that can't compete with them.

Bury overspent massively last season to get promotion, they’re now facing the repercussions of that.

I feel sorry for their fans but the trouble is self inflicted.

Let's all point at the twat

In other news, here's hoping that Sam Allarshyte doesn't have this team's wage bill become cripplingly unsustainable in the medium term

The Bury MP on Talkshite this morning was implying that the EFL effectively didn't do such a test on the Bury owner because they have been several steps behind in the whole saga. This clearly needs to be investigated - but who is going to do that investigation - the EFL?

There's also so much else here that smells, such as why different outcomes have been imposed on Bury and Bolton, why apparently legitimate bids were rejected, and of course where the money went (and/or was allowed to go) in the first place. As was mentioned, clearly Bury overspent in their promotion bid, but how can a club be allowed to spend so much more than earnings at all? It's not like they were going to get into the PL where increased revenues would (maybe temporarily) save them.

Can anyone think of a Premier League ref that they'd actually want in charge of it, though?
