He normally has to wait until The BBC Gossip Column is published before he is able to say anything meaningful about footy so expect him here tomorrow morning.
Didn’t get to see the game as I’m on me hollies. But looking at the stats how the @£@@ did we win that. Also can’t complain about the style of play we apparently played but was it turgid?
Yes, we deserved to win. We played as a well drilled defensive unit and took our goal well. Spurs huffed and puffed and struggled to break us down. It wasn't turgid. Classic away win.
Looks like i’ll Have to do the next match thread now. All my in depth analysis and insight helped spur us on to the win.
Agree with this. Sometimes people equate defensive with a lack of ambition but let's be honest, we aren't going to beat teams like Spurs by trying to control possession. We were incredibly well drilled and solid but this wasn't "hoofball" and to be honest, we had 2 or 3 other big changes. Great hit by Longstaff but he should have squared it, Atsu had a chance but fluffed his touch, and if Muto hadn't been fouled.... I thought Longstaff started poorly (made some awful passes) but grew into the game. A big 3 points will take off some pressure for the guys.
2 thing a won us that game. 1. Chippys matchday thread, top quality work fella, Don’t let anyone tell you it was a **** effort. 2. Dropping Shelvey (take note brucie)!
Well I think Shelvey days are numbered. He’s to slow for the premier now. He’s a great passer of the ball but the game has changed.
Deep joy fillibob. A surprise three points. Still very early days, but some positive signs that watching Newcastle will be so much less predictable, hence more exciting. The goal itself was crafted, set pieces, whilst not successful, showed some variety (it is no accident that Bournemouth are right up there with goals from them - rarely do they simply pump it into the box), and what passing happened was much more forward than backward. Almiron continues to look far better than his current end product, and the result, at least if only until the next loss, shuts up most of the 'Rafa is a god and Bruce is ****' boys.
I still think Bruce is going to take us down but it is not him I blame in all honesty. Look I hope we don’t. But from what I have seen so far this season, and it’s early days, I see no improvement on last season but I am happy to remain open minded. I think Bruce is on a hiding to nothing personally and honestly he has balls taking it on. I just think it’s a poisened chalice.
Like i said game 1 and 2 we dont have the ball enough to get away with him in our side ... hes cant run
I'd take having not improved, we stayed up comfortably in the end. Obviously I'd rather we improved each season but I'd take doing as well as last. We have 3 points after 3 games, 2 of which we may have written off under Rafa anyway
So exactly which dictionary do you use. Mine seems to have completely different meanings for the words you are using?
