I do wonder why the Lino didn't flag it immediately. That was so nailed on it didn't need a second look. Should have been flagged immediately.

Is this the thing I've dreaded, "VAR creep", starting where officials are scared to make decisions without a replay?

Only because VAR was available. Burn knew it as soon the ball hit the net. The players were setting up for a free kick and not kick off before the decision was made. Everyone knew it was offside. VAR merely confirmed it.

I love how when we lose, we are negative and when we win the board is still not positive.

    Reasons to be cheerful:

    • The sun is out
    • It's hot
    • It's really hot
    • It is really, really hot
    • We scored 2 good goals
    • We won
    • We won away
    • I am going on holiday on Monday.

    COYR!!!!!

Thought Ralph got his subs spot on as well. Easy to say when one of them scores almost instantly but hey ho.

Subjective response, fact is VAR got it right. Not the ref or the linesman.

Except all the times when decisions that should never ever be made are made.

Lol. Bit harsh for today though. He had a good game and deserves a little credit. IMO other than the blunder the first game he's been decent all year.

I think he is fine as the middle guy in a back 3, maybe even our best CB when we play that way. Only problem is, none of us are super-happy with playing 3 CBs.

We know that Ralph is an excellent match manager, probably the best that we have had for many years.

That will be worth lots of points over a season.

Yes, I think your 'VAR creep' is inevitable at any given point. For example, if an official is going to end up coming into the odd match not feeling 100% confident, then VAR will feed that uncertainty. Officials will just need continual training and education to get comfortable with VAR. I suspect it'll take a couple of seasons before it's really buttoned down.

That's exactly my point. He should have flagged it and have the game move on.

We're now moving past the tip of the wedge, mark my words.

At halftime I was looking forward to the meltdown when we failed to beat 10 men.

We've played well before and created chances and got nothing....not going to apologise for winning when not at our best. Three points....how we won it doesn't matter a jot. .

Archers, I've just read a few posts back. Is your Milligna look the thing you do when you've been bombed by a seagull? :p

I agree; it was tongue in cheek (someone was talking about the Timsbury Lake earlier this week, which had me thinking). He's certainly been solid, however, his turning ability sometimes really does leave him stranded.

In parentheses, it's worth noting that the answer to the question posed before the season, "who'll be this year's scapegoat?" is (so far) definitely "Jannik Vestergaard" in the Northam.
