Had a ten minute connection to catch there a couple years ago. Bloody looooong airport isn't it! Felt like a christmas movie running through the crowds with two children hanging onto me! Made it though.
    Enjoy your celebrations! <bubbly>

You just know that it the start of my 2-3 week 50th Birthday celebrations when your favourite Chianti is reduced from £9 to £6 at Sainsburys and they are doing a further 25% off when you buy 6 or more......

A mum is cleaning her 12 year old son's room, and she finds a box full of serious bondage gear and fetish mags under his bed so asks her husband
"What shall I do about it?"
    He replies
"Well I'm no expert, but I definitely wouldn't spank him"

    Another environmental post from me.

Volkswagen are now making Clean Level 6 Diesels. So says their Head of diesel development, Sebastien Willmann. He says that their Level 6 vehicles only emit a small amount of NOx these days, and has re-affirmed VW's commitment to diesel:

    https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-rival-volkswagen-exec-clean-diesel-commitment-interview/

Remember that VW got caught with Dieselgate?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34324772

Well they got caught again, because the software fix they made for the dieselgate cars has a cheat buried inside it. So has judged a German court of VW. This news broke on the same day as VW's new commitment:

    https://www.teslarati.com/volkswagen-dieselgate-software-fix-cheat-device/

This means that anyone who wanted to sue VW can now continue to do so [new statute of limitations].
But back to those level 6 diesels. They have a cleaning system which operates between 10 and 50 degrees celcius. Outside of those parameters the cleaning system is disabled. Which means that, in the whole of winter your Level 6 diesel will pollute like fcuk. Yes, it will pass an MOT, should someone be fool enough to buy one and keep the thing for more than 3 years, but only at operating temperature, when the MOT is conducted. Most actual journeys, especially in winter, are conducted without the engines ever quite reaching the operating temperature, because they are short hops across town, or to the school, or shops, or work. Your temp gauge my say warm, but the system isn't fully upto temperature. It's polluting a lot more than they say.

So, the con is on again. Don't fall for it. Buy a small second-hand petrol engine car, in extremely good mechanical condition, is you must, if you buy at all, or preferably an EREV, or PHEV. Best of all a battery electric vehicle - a proper BEV.

Bummer....my trip to Rome affected by pilot strike. Expect to spend hours trying to sort out. I have been going off airports and flying recently (being on the Island doesn't help)….this may be the final nail in the coffin. Why put myself through it? Bit like supporting Saints really....except I have no choice with Saints. :)

Bloke sitting in the pub looking glum.

    His mate says, "What's wrong?"

He says, "I have to have a vasectomy"

His mate says, "What do you mean 'have to'? It's your choice"

"No, the wife said I needed one and we had an argument. We couldn't settle it so we decided to ask the kids and have a vote"

    "What happened?" says his mate

" I lost thirteen votes to twelve"

Don't talk to me about flights...told to call...but BA are not accepting calls (I do understand how many flights they are rebooking....anyone got a cat I can kick, I only have access to a cute doggie :emoticon-0138-think Don't tell Helen). Tried e-mailing, but had to rephrase my question as the system instantly replied having misunderstood what I said...hope I get a human next time. Annoying when all I need is a couple of sentences from a human person so I know where I stand. It's wonderful how in the information age that is the one thing you can't get.

From what I hear, BA are just cancelling flights with little or no alternative. Too late to book The Orient Express? That's get you to Venice, at least. Good luck anyhow.

Have booked return on another airline, but cost more than my return on BA! And I bet the flight isn't cancelled and I get nowt back. As I'm treating my friend for her birthday, that's £200 down the drain. Advice is not to cancel with BA, but try to claim for replacement flight....have you ever tried to get money off BA...will turn out I'm entitled to tuppence halfpenny because I booked myself, but couldn't get a straight answer. However at least I'll get home and will have forgotten about the money....eventually.

Looks like I have dodged the BA bullet - flying out on 26th August with them, back on the 4th Sept.

Hope all goes well for you....sometimes there are other cancellations as they rearrange planes, but that will probably be for flights after a strike not before or for long haul.
