Aribo will go on to be a top player. Not to rub your nose in it either, but he won’t be spending long in the footballing backwaters of the SPL.
@monacoger You are among friends on here. We are all Unionists & we all despise Celtic I admire Rangers as a football club, but it’s undeniable that the standard in the SPL is dire.
@monacoger On a footballing note, I saw Joe Aribo make his professional debut for us at Southend away a couple of years ago. I posted that day that he reminded me of a young Patrick Viera. He is that good. Unfortunately we currently have a negligent Belgian cock of an owner who didn’t recognise his true value. Same as with Lookman, Gomez, Pope , Konsa....
No, I’d be happy with a draw and a 20,000 attendance. The Valley has been rocking so far this season.
I saw a stat that the Championship is rated the 5th most competitive league in Europe - behind the PL, la Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga...but ahead of Ligue 1 in France & the Portuguese league.
How do they measure competitiveness? I would have said the Championship is more competitive than the PL.
Two things you notice about the Championship - as you say, lots of big clubs with big away followings, and yes, every game is bloody hard. I’m hoping to do all 46 this season.
I had a season ticket for about 10 years but not had one for ages. Considering I live in Spain it doesn't really make sense to have one!
Showing my age again, but when I grew up in Kilmarnock boys played football every spare minute, and it was probably the same everywhere, and although Scotland never had a great team plenty of very good players emerged from the parks and streets. We also had a lot of Physical Training at school. This all seems to have changed, hence the lack of quality at club and international level. Is it still true that Rangers have the only indoor pitch in Scotland?
based on Competitiveness I would say that Rangers and Aberdeen are still some way off the left footers... even with a better squad this season which may see Rangers overtake Aberdeen... I still see Rangers as being some way off Cel@ic and the green & whites winning the SPL by 10 points
We overtook Aberdeen last season and I'm confident we will win the league this season. The first Old Firm game next weekend will be intetesting. 2-0 Rangers. You heard it here first!
