They were having a laugh about the police’s hamfistedness. Agree having your car nicked isn’t great. Though it could be classed as redistributing wealth, taking from the rich and giving to the poor in a socialist way.

    Exactly.
A new chairman comes into Cod before a game, everybody welcomed him. Why wouldn’t they?
And as for the car thefts to go to an away game? I think you have made it up.
And the police intelligence officer was earwigging to find out information about car thefts?

I aren’t making it up at all. I didn’t say the police intelligence officer, an inappropriate title if there ever was one as regards Humberside OB and football,I said there was an undercover one who was soon sussed out.

Wouldn’t like to see a founder member of the league and a club which although small had won the FA Cup twice before anyone got round to having a football club in Hull go out of business. But there is nothing we can do and it will increase. Look how many pro clubs compared to other similarly sized and bigger countries. Worked in the days when everyone went to watch their local club but not know with so many not able to cope with little or no prospect of success and getting their glory through vicarious “support” of clubs they have no connection with.

The stand was certainly buzzing. It was really loud because it wasn't a big stand and the roof was low. No segregation. I remember it more as being in the corner. Last time I was there I was trying to work out where it had been but there is no sign of it now.Their fans sang, "Bury FC, Bury FC, we are the champions". It must have been tongue in cheek. They pronounced it 'burry' not ''berry'. They still do.

Of course when we sing about being the best team the world has ever seen we are deadly serious.<laugh>

Why shouldn’t Bury sing about being the champions? TWS sing about being Champions Of Europe.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I recently heard a story from a ex City lad, Steve Swailes, about the Monte Carlo mob going up to Sunderland, nicking a bakers van from outside Roker Park, to escape a kicking and driving it back to Hull, getting back home covered from head to toe in white powder. Oh what fun they had...

In a statement given to PA Media, Newman and Campbell said: "We can confirm that over the past 10 weeks we have been in discussions with Bury FC, the EFL and others with a view to putting forward a proposal to buy the club.

"It is a very complicated scenario and there remain a number of outstanding legal and other issues that have to be addressed.

"Our background is in football and data analytics and it should therefore not be surprising that we are taking a very detailed forensic look at the realities of Bury FC's finances.

"A club like Bury ought to have a viable long-term future even if the short-term future is clearly very challenging. To that end we have been in discussions with the EFL about an extension so that we can continue to explore the prospects for a purchase."

EFL chief executive Debbie Jevans said earlier this week that a short extension to the deadline may be granted if a buyer could be found.

I think that is fantasy. Don't remember the Monte Carlo mob ever going to Sunderland.

Bolton deal was apparently all ready to be signed off (again) on Saturday morning, and former owner Ken Anderson changed his demands!

Likewise. Never saw many at Sunderland in those days,Even when we had that great season under Terry Neill there were only about 100 of us there. George Slater gave a few gobsmacked Mackems a drinking lesson which cost them a few quid after they were making out nobody could knock them back like they could. And then proceeded to outdrink the rest of us when we stopped off in York on the way back.

Bolton Administrator Statement - At 5pm on Friday August 23, the completion of the sale of the football club and the hotel had been agreed by all parties and undertakings had been issued by all solicitors except those of Ken Anderson.

Devastatingly, on Saturday morningthat deal collapsed. At this stage, there seems little point in apportioning blame because that makes no difference to the staff, players, management, supporters and the community who have once more seen their club taken back to the brink.

My team have spent the last 48 hours working around the clock, striving to get a deal back on track and trying to convince the parties still in conflict that the very fate of Bolton Wanderers depends on them finding a compromise.

The EFL have made their position clear by insisting on a 5pm deadline on Tuesday for a deal to be completed or give compelling reasons for an extension. They have also written to everybody concerned in the process to underline that sense of urgency.

On Sunday evening, there was some tentative dialogue but we are still some way from reaching a solution. Therefore, I am appealing to those parties whose position seems intractable to do everything to reach a compromise.

In just over 24 hours, the club will have its membership of the EFL revoked. Over and above that, the club is currently not in a position to carry on trading and, as such, the process of closing down the company will commence on Wednesday.

This will ultimatelylead to its liquidation, the expulsion of the club from the EFL and the inevitable loss of over 150 jobs. More than that, it will devastate a community for whom the football club is a beacon of hope and expectation.

I reiterate, unless there is a change of position from any of the parties involved, the process of closing down the club and ultimately placing Bolton Wanderers into liquidation will begin thisweek.

Little point apportioning blame, but it was Ken Anderson.
