That's all I heard. But to me it was in stark contrast to him trying to play things close to the vest with Forster and having to get it teased out of him that Forster might go even though it's obvious. And when he finally addressed it, he took his usual positive/neutral tone of "If players decide that they need to play, that's understandable and we will let them go if we can." He says that even about players it's obvious we want to move (eg. Elyounoussi, Austin). "It's important we get rid of this guy" as opposed to "He's welcome to stay, but I can understand why they wouldn't want to."
Definitely not next season. After this year, he will have only one year left on his deal and he will be 26. So there would be no point in trying to develop him. If he isn’t good enough to start by then, there is no point in playing him. Also, we will prioritize Obafemi/Sims or we will bring someone in. His best shot was really last season when he was on loan. This season he has an uphill battle just to get on the pitch with the addition of Djenepo and to some extent Adams. But all it takes is an injury, maybe a phenomenal showing in a Cup match or another wonder goal.... door is not locked locked now he’s going to have to open it himself.
So you would only have players aged 25 and under on your bench? There are such things as squad players, even in Ralphs system where he relies more on youth
Just said on Sky that Southampton have the most losses in August in our PL years....closely followed by West Ham. 40...if you are interested. We should be used to bad starts by now.
