D-day for Bury today and not looking good for them. I don’t think we can go into this game expecting to walk over them, it’s 11v11 and they have had a change of situation. Also the possibility that the results against Bolton may be wiped later in the season. If we approach it right though there is a high probability of a cricket score. COYB
You gotta feel for both clubs, and for Bolton tomorrow, in a weird way, i think i'd prefer it to be close. Those poor young lads playing their first season as professionals must be thinking "what the F have i got myself into". Hope it doesn't damage them too much. As for the game, surely a comfortable win, time for some fresh legs to come in with Huws, Judge and KVY all starting. Not that i'm a gambling man, but i did see that we are 1/14 to win, with Bolton at 40/1....seriously, has there even been such a one sided betting match between two in the same division? I'll stick my neck out and go for a 4-1 victory (Georgieou, KVY, Norwood (2))
We have to put sentiment aside, goal difference against Bolton alone could be the difference at the end of the season.
I'll go for a 3-0 win, straight-forward and dominant. Anything less than three points here, considering our expectations, would be a massive failure in my opinion. Reckon we'll keep it simple and revert to 4-4-2 (Jackson and Norwood up top), hopefully with Georgiou and Rowe on the flanks. Downes and Skuse central midfield looks most likely - hopefully that won't be too pedestrian (despite both being in good form). I expect Chambers will be back in the team and hopefully KVY will make his debut. As Hampy touched upon above, the main story for today and this weekend is the survival of Bury. Such a sad situation, something I wouldn't wish on any football supporter's club.
It now all seems a distant memory. Just a case of our batters not adjusting to the very different demands and disciplines of Test Cricket. Much different to that if going out there and slogging every ball!
Totally unprepared we were, and the Aussies bounced back from poor World Cup and nipped dear, sweet England on the bum! Lets get back some of our recent top players to advise, team talk, coach even. Has any of the Business wallah regime asked Cook, Vaughan, even dear Sir Geoffrey, what they think?! Bet your arse they havent!
Put simply, our batsman have no idea where their off stump us &someone needs to tell them that in test match cricket, you are allowed dot balls
Ok, I am putting my old boots on the line and saying a comfortable 4-0 result and top 2 by end of the afternoon. COYBs!
Our two frontsmen bamboozled by a great ball being swung into them - straight thru their legs...well played VY, nice debut game so far.
