I would have liked Embleton on a bit earlier yesterday as Maguire was out on his feet, and becoming a bit of a liability before JR took him off. Get everyone up and running and he will be lucky to keep his place imo.
Bit harsh Clock, he brings that bit of mischief to the team winding up the opposition, and he did score the winner against Portsmouth. He just needs game time as do some others to get them fully fit.
I remember a point last year where we were ****e, Maguire came back from injury and suddenly we seemed a different team again. I like him, I agree he seemed to tire yesterday and probably should have come off 10mins earlier, but I’d definitely keep him around the first team.
I'd also put Maguire firmly in the starting lineup unless there comes a time that someone not currently starting is playing better. I'd say he's our best player for making good decisions and building attacks, even McGeady is prone to trying too much and giving it away. He also gives a bit of needle which again he does better than anyone else and anything that toughens us up is good as we've been soft touches for ages. Plus he scores cracking goals on a fairly regular basis.
I remember him doing this once or twice and then following it up directly with a 90 minute stinker. Reading his interview, reminded me of Jack Rodwell and his attitude, and wondering if this is his problem. Maybe I over-reacted a bit and shot from the hip . Squirm squirm ..
I like Maguire. He clearly loves running for the club. He can be patchy, sure, but he’s tries to make things happen, I always think we have a bit more bite when he’s in the side. I love the fact that he gets his man's back up, and he does make great runs into space when he’s central. The Pompey goal was a prime example. He’s not ever gonna be the most cultured and gifted player, but he’s a bastard to play against and that’s gold in this league. He’d certainly be a starter if I was gaffer.
All entitled to our opinions mate, no worries . Oh god don’t even mention that arsewipe in the same sentence as Maguire! Yeah he is a little hit and miss at times, but id still involved him in the match day anytime, capable of that little bit of magic every team needs.
Maguire's a primadonna and up and down with his temperament but he loves his football and his ego alone would make him want to play every game, nowt like Rodwell imo.
I can’t see how naming the 2 in a comparative post can ever be done. One openly admitted to just wanting to take his money. The other blatantly wants to play a part as much as he can!!
Says he couldn't be bothered to get out of bed to play for Bury, wonder how their fans think about that or any of his defenders on here would think if he said the same about Sunderland. Hence my comparison with Rodwell for the other doubters.
Think he was depressed mate because he wasn't being paid and was worried about not being able to provide for his family. As far as I know he did actually train and make himself available it was just the situation was getting him down.
That wasn't because he simply couldn't be bothered. It was deeper than that. It was a mental health thing to me. Doesn't seem that kind of bloke at all.
As said there was far more to it than that. Nothing like Rodwell as he wasn’t getting paid! He loves the club and loves the game. Rodwell just admitted that he wasn’t bothered
I wouldn’t wanna go to graft if I wasn’t getting paid. Rodwell was a ****ing thief, not the same craic at all. Someone should have put that ****er in the Wear.
Give over what? He said he wasn't being paid and he was unhappy like all his teammates were. He still went to training and played matches. Sounds like you've made your mind up about him and won't listen to sense, it's usually better to support our own players but crack on.
