How could it be true that there was a plan for a gelding to be retired to stud? Were the stable on drugs for a year when hatching the plan?

Iif he had said "I think it could be a group horse" then fair enough, horses dont always live up to the potential we see in them.

and theres hundreds of posts like these over the years, 92 with "expected", thats not including all the "given the nod" "wont hear of defeat" and any other number of cliches, of course some of them will win.
