Apparently, the appropriate response is as follows...ahem... Give it time, this is the Championship, son.
The score line flattered us, your defence though needs sorting, reminded me of us last season, still good football from both teams, if it's any consolation, Baston and Ayew we signed in the PL, they have both been out on loan the last two seasons due to wages, and are only back playing because of the sales of Dan James and McBurnie. All the best for the rest of the season....................
Bright needs to sort out his discipline - 2nd time in 2 matches that he's been booked for kicking an opposition player off the ball, and lucky not to have been sent off for either / both Hugely frustrating evening - we played some really tidy football but yet again self destructed in defence At least one clean sheet this season would be very welcome!!
I thought we improved when Pugh came on, he has got a cooler and more experienced head than the 3 youngsters and reckon he's got goals in him. I'd prefer to see Eze playing central, Pugh and 1 of BOS and Chair wide.
Just back a little too much beer and no kiwi to blame. Do you know although disappointed I enjoyed the game, two teams playing football the right way, I enjoyed QPR performance, as I said earlier Swansea were a little cuter and pipped us 3-1 but same points for 3-2. Warburton keep to your principles, nothing expected this season except build and get better. Blimey a home defeat and I’m still positive. Ursssss
Felt the same walking away from the game tonight........think the approach and plan is right, just lacking on the execution.......it will come!
Well. What to say? I thought this would be tough and it was. I predicted a 2 all draw in our game thread but slightly out sadly. I messaged my lads at about 25 mins to say that we were playing well but you know what that means...... Just seen it so many times over last few years. Start well with enthusiasm and energy and, with this team, not a little skill then bang. Caught on the counter. Fired up at 1 nil down and get a deserved equaliser only for the Brentford Double Agent to repeat his clumsy defending and earn the Swans a stone wall penalty. Then we have a skimmed bar, two goal mouth scrambles, a shot from 30 yds that nearly took off a Swan's head and a disallowed goal for some infringement concocted in the psychotic mind of a fat lino whose sole aim was to raise the flag in order to stop him having to move his lard ass! Reality check. Swans were the better team but not by much. Maybe just by Ayew? We are definitely a work in progress and, despite losing, it was still an entertaining game bar the last few minutes at 3:1 down when all hope was gone. Far too early to talk about 'must win' games but a win against Wigan will see us comfortable mid table instead of sliding downwards. Can't make it on Saturday so relying on you lads and lasses to cheer the lads on. Night.
I shall wear the same t shirt that I wore for the Stoke and Huddersfield matches - but haven't worn since - on Saturday, so 3 points guaranteed
Just back. I wonder if we have been flattered by the first two games as it seems Stoke and Hud are very poor at the moment. Is that two penalties Barbet has given away as well as a contribution to a soft goal? .
I thought it was a good game despite the defeat. Both sides trying and playing some very good passing football. Up until the half hour mark it was evens but when they won the ball on the edge of their box and swiftly broke I just knew that the ball would be nestling in the back of our net. Lumley looks bereft of confidence and didn't handle the one on one too well. We came back well and got a deserved equaliser. Hugill with a header that didn't look like it had enough pace on it but it's placement was perfect. We should've had a penalty when Bidwell handled the ball but the squirrel ref didn't see it and / or didn't give it. Soon after Barbet made a stupid challenge and the Swans were awarded a definite pen. This was the turning point of the match. Up until then they were rattled and we looked like the only team to go on and win the three points. It was not to be though as the Swans scored a third soft goal carving our right side of defence a new one leaving Surridge to head into an empty net. Hugill works hard but is often isolated. He needs to have runners in and around him quicker as more often than not he was the only player in the oppositions box. We need to move the ball quicker. The patterns of play is a work in progress and you can see them developing but the player on the ball seems to be checking that the others are on the same page. Hopefully this will improve. Pugh looked good when he came on as did Chair. Eze was great but needs to release the ball quicker and take the shot on sooner when the opportunity arrises. BOS had an excellent second half. I think Warburton needs to start at the back and shore up the defence before he works on our attempt at the passing game. I think someone mentioned this above. We need to try and earn clean sheets as a priority especially if Lumley is to retain the shirt. He needs the confidence. Swansea were set up really well and are a good team with and without the ball. They looked a really good footballing side and worked well as a complete unit. They played the perfect away game and are on a par with Fulham for the best team in this league. This was a really good test for us but sadly we didn't know how to get anything from it. The effort was there though and if we can conquer our naivity hopefully we can stay in this division and develop.
“Ruthless Swansea” and “QPR continue to concede goals against the run if play”. https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-qpr-swansea-city-report-210819 Mark Warburton “We need to eradicate mistakes and to be more clinical in front of goal”. Queens Park Rangers 1-3 Swansea City: Swansea up to second with win at QPR http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49340154 Out stats are also very telling: 52% possession 7 corners 22 shots 3 on-target Thus we are only incisive with ONE meaningful shot from SEVEN. We gave the ball away in more incidents than we were really threatening in front of goal. Our football is very pleasing in the eye, but we must stop the errors at the back (penalties and gifting the ball in dangerous areas) and we incisive in-front of goal.
Much as I saw it 9's. When very early on, Eze dribbled through their defence into their box, only the Keeper to beat from only a slight angle and shot yards wide I thought it was going to be Bristol all over again. This was confirmd in the next 10 minutes or so when BOS great run, Amos really good press/ballwinning close to their area, and then Hugill going back outwards into space to neatly collect a corner, all failed to finish. By the time 20 minutes or so, Eze won a lost looking ball at their corner flag and still managed to get through the right side of their defence and looked to score in the far corner only for the Keeper to get a finger to it, we had already gone off the boil. Only got it back when Pugh came on and he and Chair gave Swansea new problems, a goal, and then another but for Bidwell to save it with his arm on their goal line. Should have been a red card and pen for us, but oh no, weare QPR. And we can't defend, no.
Watched the game on my laptop in the bar of my Spanish hotel. Very frustrating, and much the same as we'd seen before - some pretty passing with little end product and errors costing goals against. Hugill was isolated again and we really need to get support players around him - Eze seemed to be in our penalty area more than he was theirs. Important to get a win against Wigan.
