Poor bloke is just about fed up with it

Yeah, I saw this on Twitter and there's a lot of truth in it. What's frightening are the students that are anonymously reporting lecturers that encourage freedom of expression in classes, for "badspeak", and the universities that enforce the complaints. Positively Orwellian

Carbon off-setting scheme supported by Sir Elton John on behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have no ‘meaningful’ effect on climate change says Greenpeace’s chief scientist
    • Sir Elton John said he contributed to an offset scheme to make the private jet trips recently taken by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'carbon neutral'
    • But Greenpeace's chief scientist said this and similar schemes made no 'meaningful' inroads towards the goal of a world of net zero carbon emissions
    • It could take a tree planted today 320 years to capture carbon from their flights

Greenpeace's chief scientist has said it is 'not okay' to claim, as Elton John did on Harry and Meghan's behalf today, that private jet travel is 'carbon neutral' as a result of a donation to a carbon offset scheme.
Doug Parr told MailOnline: 'There's no way any current tech deals with the load of CO2 you've released on a personal level'.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has announced the government will be cracking down on Syrians with asylum status who go on holiday back to Syria.
Bavarian centre-right leader Horst Seehofer said that the government would be looking to strip Syrians who visit their home country on holiday of their asylum status, saying that those who regularly travel to the country cannot make a serious claim that they are being persecuted there, Kronen Zeitung reports

Economy £26bn bigger than previously thought as ONS adds a year’s worth of growth to GDP

Improved data on the lifespan of public assets such as railways revealed the economy is bigger than previously realised, to the tune of 1.3pc, or a year's growth at the current rate Credit: Charlotte Graham /CAG Photography Ltd
Britain is a touch richer than previously realised after new sums by the Office for National Statistics added an extra £26bn to annual GDP.
The Government and charities replace buildings, machinery and other capital more frequently than expected, businesses develop more software in-house than was known, and services exports are larger than had been appreciated.
As a result by the end of 2016 the economy was 1.3pc bigger than previously estimated, according to the new data that looks at the years since 1997.
Adding an average of 0.1 percentage points to annual growth over 20 years, this amounts to more than a year’s worth of growth at the past year's rate of expansion.

My money will be on Germany to come back from anything
Say again the UK shouldn’t be looking anywhere other than at itself

Acceptance will take as long as it may take with some ... maybe never
But the fact remains the UK would need to change a lot culturally just to compete with our European cousins

Again the UK flux and deep division means that to me it’s impossible so looking at other countries and laughing does what exactly?

Brexit will hurt us much more than most European countries and I am confident I am correct on that

The decline of the UK will continue naturally imo

It’s time to liquidate while you can imo

Time for all of us should be the main currency and driver

    That’s how I feel 100%

Exciting times if you think that way

    If not carry on moaning

Brexit especially a no deal Brexit will be hard on the UK and hurt the poorest people imo but at least we will be able to revel in looking at other countries in Europe and maybe laugh ... the truth is they will recover because we simply haven’t got the culture and collective mindset to come together

Blame away but ask yourselves please what other substance have we the UK got?

Our entire financial culture is built around our houses and the debt associated with it I believe the recession number three could be the mother of all mothers

To what era in history would you need to rewind to in order to find a set of circumstances upon which you’d back Britain against any other country?

Why do you think that is, Paul? What great cultural upheavals have weakened this country and it’s collective mindset do you reckon?

    Genuinely interested in your thoughts.
