I do hope this isn't true. It's the the Fail so quite likely https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...swap-deal-Christian-Eriksen-Paulo-Dybala.html
It wouldn't be up to Pochettino, would it? The deal appears to have fallen through because of image rights, anyway.
Blatant speculation on my part, but considering how the various U23s we've loaned out this season are all north of 20, ranging from Jack Roles who turned 20 in February to Luke Amos and Anthony Georgiou who are both 22, I'm going to guess that most of the following players may also be loaned before the end of the month Brandon Austin Marcus Edwards Samuel Shashoua Japhet Tanganga Shilow Tracey Alfie Whiteman
Bit of a strange move if I'm honest. He has a burgeoning reputation and I don't see what a loan any lower than League 1 could do to add to or improve that. We've sent out a great deal of promising youngsters to nothing clubs (no offence to the likes of Cambridge) and unsurprisingly, nothing has come of the loan. I get that he's a player with great technical ability who probably needs to learn the rough n tumble of English football and toughen up a bit, but you can do that in League 1 and some, without compromising too much in the quality department. There are some seriously poor sides littering League 2 as can be expected. Reading that back I realise that I sound like a snob but are we really doing enough to aid the development of our most promising players? As you've said HBIC, the U23's have been a shambles for a few years now whilst so many of our loans make little to no sense.
This one might be to do with the manager there, as Cambridge have Colin Calderwood at the helm at the moment. We've also sent multiple players to clubs where they haven't played, so perhaps it's a practical choice?
I hadn't realised Colin was in charge there. And fully agree with your latter point - our loan strategy seems to be caught in a game of tennis between regular game time for ****e teams or zero game time for decent teams. Although at the end of the day we can only speculate who is being sent out to develop and who is being placed in a shop window.
Last season it was obvious that Ogilvie, Harrison and Glover were being put in the shop window, but Edwards, Shashoua, Sterling and Georgiou were (according to WindyCOYS, at least) in part due to their agents demanding they play first team football - although to be blunt, Shashoua is the only player on that list whose loan appeared to be beneficial
Reports in Turkey... ...wait, at least let me finish... ...reports in Turkey suggest that GKN is being lined up for a loan to Besiktas
Should be £40m after that assist against Bayern and panenka against Inter in pre-season. We're being done over here!
Vic to Brugge is gathering pace. €10m with €5m in bonuses. Potentially making us a profit on the £11m we paid if the bonuses are met. Pretty good deal all things considered. Gutted for him though, that first season only Kante to Chelsea was a better signing in my opinion, £11m looked a steal for Vic. Injuries have royally done a number on him. The Vic of that season would net us north of £50m in this market.
