Birch is spot on with the way he is doing things at the club. Let's make no mistake here, We are a small feeder club that has punched way above our weight and were managing to hold our own until Jenkins went against his own philosophy and started enticing players with over the top wages and contracts which a club like ours could never in a million years sustain without being successful and an established top ten club....We unsurprisingly failed that miserably. If we had only adhered to our philosophy and not spend our money like water on contracts and wages (83%) and getting into debt then we would probably be still in the premiership playing above our weight and keeping the club in a stable condition......The club is in no position to even consider getting back to the premiership for a number of years yet if ever at all. The prem has moved on even since we have left and if you dont have the money then you wont get the players needed and we will see more and more of teams getting into financial turmoil as we did spending money on wages we could not afford.. The club's main aim is to try and stay in the championship and that is no mean fete and if teams come in with good offers for any of our players then the club must consider the profit and the players career before selling...We have no choice but to look into the loan market but it is far from ideal and to be fair the club is now in better shape now and with a man like Birch overseeing things we can only improve....

Daniel James was on the end of several hard-hitting tackles, including a particularly feisty one from Moussa Sissoko
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino apologised to Manchester United for tough tackling by his players during their 2-1 pre-season defeat in Shanghai.

Moussa Sissoko could have been sent off for a challenge on Daniel James, which drew an angry response from United midfielder Scott McTominay and left the former Swansea winger in a heap while players argued among themselves in a heated tussle.

"I apologise to Manchester United on behalf of our players," said Pochettino, who also saw Dele Alli booked following two heavy challenges, along with United's Andreas Pereira.

"I was a little bit annoyed about some situations. I was not happy because sometimes you can arrive late and something can happen.

"Sometimes you need to be aggressive and play with passion but the focus is on building our fitness and developing the way we want to play."

 

He has had a little taster now and i hope he and Man utd learn what he will be up against if he makes the first team.....I would hate to see a player with so much potential have his career cut short because he is not ready for the big time yet....He will get there but give the lad time to adjust...

 

You can't blame Dan James for awful tackles on him Dai by saying he's not ready for the big time!
He had it last season as well - Stoke had 2 players sent of for fouls on him. There were a few other red cards against him as well. He's just simply too fast for most players so they end up flooring him. It will be the same this season.

Sweet goal from Dan James against Palace. He’s off to a great start in his United career. He got booked for diving - 100% wrong decision. He was definitely kicked and the yellow should be rescinded.

 

Proving me wrong which i'm chuffed about. He will be a super star if he carries on the way he is......Barca and Real Madrid will be watching him closely i shouldn't wonder,,,,,Better than Man United today....He deserves it...Have we a sell on clause ?
