On the subject of food, stayed and ate at South Cave Castle a few weeks back, stay away, worst food I've had in years by a country mile! Good job the golf course and beers made up for it

Most lager is vegan inc Peroni etc
    Guinness is vegan too
Ales are trickier but all Atom stuff is all vegan
    Most ciders aren’t
    Less wine is vegan

As you say it’s down to how they clear it. Some still use eggs or ground up fish swim bladder

Yes, fish finings were very common years ago but now not widely used. Progress, eh?

Still used widely in wine manufacturing

I can’t get my head round who thought to try it in the first place mind you! ‘Bloody beer is a bit cloudier than I’d like...hmm...anyone got any fish bladders?’

I’m guessing it was a happy accident. Probably dropped into the 6nd or 7rd pint of a fish gutter’s mid afternoon snack.

“I say Rupert, you’ve accidentally dropped those fish bladders in this here pint of mine & would you believe the cloud has gone? Drop some more in these others & set about taste testing. We’ll head to Tadcaster on the next available Stage to sell our novel discovery to the Brewers” or summat like that.

As you are no doubt aware, Ben, the word finings is a mass noun not a plural.

I suppose one should be grateful no one has inserted an apostrophe on the basis it ends in an s.

I saw a sign in a cash and carry yesterday saying "check out our price,s". It should obviously have been an apostrophe not a comma!

I never knew beer had fishy bits in it, I thought the smell was due to the barmaid's lack of intimate hygiene.
