A shocking first 30 minutes for Town as Rochdale pressed us continually and our possession stats were at 27%. We then made some improvement and took a bit more control.
We did seem to get the better of the game in the second half with more promising shots whereas Rochdale only had two memorable shots that required a save.

Really impressed with Goss and his free kicks, Giles had some great runs and Whalley was a constant threat.

a contrast in styles with Rochdale keeping it on the ground, playing some nice probing football as they try to weave through the defence, town using the width of the pitch the creative sparks coming from whalley and Giles, town had some half chances over the course of 45 minutes there keeper made two saves, near the end of the game pierre nearly scored a spectaculare goal with an overhead free kick.last 15 minutes town pressed Rochdale just hope we dont get punished for not scoring.
second half town improved but for all the presssing not creating enough chances, ferjiri missed towns best chance, lucky the linesman eventually put up his flag for offside or it would have been another MKDons

midfield not creating enough and too easly by passed, Goss looks good on set pieces.
i have no idea were the goals are going to come from, whilst early days we look toothless in front of goal

, town's defence & midfield need to work on pressing more to stop the passing game in the last third, which cost us the first two goals in the week.
we have had a number of games were the opposition have had over 60% of possession which is just inviting trouble.

Thought Rochdale shaded it overall though we had a couple of good chances and got behind them a fair bit. As always so far this season we have absolutely nothing in the box (especially in terms of midfielders getting in there) and lets hope the supposed two strikers coming in this week are better than anything Ricketts has turned up in that area so far. I was slightly optimistic at the start of the season but all I have seen so far is a team that concedes possession as a tactic, over-relies on the defence and does not look as if it could buy a goal. We deserve much better than this.

from the villa pre- season game to Rochdale all the teams we have played have looked a lot more likely to score than us. as individuals we have some reasonable midfielders but as a unit it is not happening, defensivley the midfield are too easily bypassed , in the role of supporting attack they are not creating enough, Whalley cant do evrything and whilst Giles is a real threat all his hard wqork is wasted when most of the time our players are not getting on the end of his crosses. Goss showed he can take a free kick.

Goals are going to be few and far between unless we change squad/set-up.

Both Hurst and Askey tried the win by one goal approach which is fine if defences hold out. Thankfully we have some good CDs, just hope Max improves his punching or chooses to grab a few more balls.
