I THINK he can play if he passes the tests he can play .. That's what I got from TMS and this from Steve Smith on the BBC . 'Time will tell' for Smith on Headingley Steve Smith on whether he will play at Headingley: "It’s a quick turnaround between Test matches. I’m going to be assessed over the next five or six days each day probably a couple of times a day to see how I’m feeling and progressing. "I’m hopeful I will be available for that Test match. Certainly up to the medical staff and we’ll have conversations, but it’s certainly an area of concern, concussion, and I want to be 100% fit. “I think I’ve got to be able to train probably a couple of days out then face fast bowling to make sure my reaction time and all that sort of stuff is in place. There’s a few tests I’ll have to tick off but I guess time will tell."
I understood that the new concussion substitute law actually ruled the substituted player out for the next match. I may have got that wrong though!
I honestly don't know but TMS said the fact the next test starts on Thursday may play against him . BTW are you listening to TMS ?
You won't have heard Boycott saying ( Or implying ) Root should not think about Stokes 100 , think about the team and winning the test …...
In county cricket, a concussed played has to sit out for five days. But no such rule exists for international cricket (as far as I'm aware).
England declare with Australia needing 267 to win from 48 overs . Stokes not out 115 . Bairstow not out 30 .
Middlesex definitely suffering from a collective concussion today, 39 for 6. And Robinson has taken all the wickets thus far. A heavy inningsdefeat is coming in this match.
Middlesex 7 down now. Robinson another wicket. Hope he gets all 10!! I feel Sarisbury Green´s cricketers would have done better against Sussex this afternoon.
The rules for concussion for my u10s football team mean you have to miss about a month if you are concussed. Playing again on Thursday would not be a good idea, medically. Another blow to the head could cause serious problems.
As good as Broad is (and he really is), if Jimmy can remerge later in this season then Broad might have to get used to giving up the new ball. Because taking it away from Jofra seems unthinkable now. Jimmy, Broad, Jofra and Woakes is a hell of an attack in England.
