Good, but as with other hateful chanting such as racism, it needs to have a greater punishment, that's the only way it will deter fans. The match shouldn't have resumed - resuming it meant there was no real consequence for those dickheads who did it in the first place.
Any homophobic act is unacceptable as it is done with prejudicial intent to intimidate or offend, and I wholly condemn them. But it needs to be said that CMs gag is excellent, I assume that it hasn't gone unnoticed.
Or the headline years ago after a feisty game with a few bookings and sending offs “Young Boys in ****dorf storm!”
I live near a pub called The Nancy, should I boycott it until it changes its name to something more appropriate like The Gender Fluid?
I agree it might not affect those involved, but how else do you stop it other than punishing them? There has to come a point where we make a stand and say we have had enough, whether that is Homophobic or racist chanting. The answer is to clearly educate society to a point where no-one is ever racist or homophobic but as that isn't going to happen in my lifetime, we have to find some form of punishment.
