Thought it was 4 2 3 1 but not so easy to be sure from a stream on a laptop. Very disappointing after so much good play, 2 goals from sloppy work at the back, the 2nd farcical, but although those around them didn't capitalise on it, we can relive the magic produced by Eze and BOS.
So, what will it be this season? Stronger away and weaker at home, or stronger at home and weaker away. It's always one or the other.
One of those days. Lumley had a nightmare again but was punished for it unlike at Stoke. The second goal will be the one people point to but he has to claim the ball in the air just before the first. We were the better side for most of the first half. Hugill missed wildly from three yards just after half time but after that we failed to create enough despite lots of the ball. Young Smith looked good and Samuel was excellent again- looked a stonewall red for him though in what was a bizarre refereeing performance swinging randomly between all contact being a foul. Disappointing but typical Championship against a typical Championship side who we’ll almost certainly see again next year. Meh.
The ball was thrown into the box. What should have happened was that Barbet should head the ball to Lumley to quickly get the ball forward, BUT he missed the ball so Lumly couldn't use his hands. The ball bounced up and he tried to kick it up the pitch, but sliced it to their player who had an open goal.
I liked the look of him. Not sure he’s a ‘number ten’ but he’s more of one than Scowen is. Bit lightweight but looked tidy.
Not sure what that 2nd goal was all about....but hey ho onwards to the swans game who incidentally looked fairly decent from the very brief highlights.....Bidwell an attacking full back made one of their goals today.....who'd thunk it....
Not the result we all wanted. But still early days with positives and negatives, as you’d expect with a fresh team. All that said, sort it out
I would not be surprised to see him dropped for the mid-week Swansea match. Warburton clearly states that he wants two players competing for each position, and based on these errors Lumley (like Scowen for Saturday) will most probably will be on the bench. As often mentioned in previous posts, in the style of play we are adopting, we cannot afford suicidal errors in front of our goal allowing the opposition gifted chances. Otherwise the tactics to play us are too easy - pack the defense so we need to break them down and hit us by pressing and the counter attack. We clearly saw this in Saturday.
