Yep, I want to see Pepe and Luiz start again Burnley. They both need to bed into this team ahead of Liverpool and Spurs.
Don't expect us to beat Liverpool. However, I don't see us being beaten 5-0 again (hopefully). But we really are overdue a performance at Anfield. Can't even remember when we last won there.
2nd September 2012 is when we last won at Anfield . Liverpool 0-2 Arsenal. Podolski and Cazorla with the goals. We should have beaten them in December 2014, where we were winning 2-1, and then Skrtel scored a 97th minute equaliser. And we should have beaten them in January 2016, when we were leading 3-2, and then Joe Allen scored a 90th minute equaliser. Generally though, our record there hasn't been too good since 2012. 4 losses and 2 draws at Anfield since the last victory. I don't see that statistic improving for us, sadly, given how much they have improved under Klopp. However, like you say, so long as we don't get thumped, and keep it a competitive game, that'll do for me.
Ceballos has looked absolute quality. Spins as well as Cazorla used to. Shame he doesn't have the same two feet but still looks mint. Plus he's got two assists for my FF team!
Ceballos looks a player, agreed. Would love for us to sign him permanently. I know there’s no buy clause, but Madrid is an oddball club in the sense that even very good players there are moved on regularly. Remember when we bought Ozil, he mentioned he was going “nowhere” that summer.
Missed the game but have heard - Ceballos looked quality getting two assists. Good to see Auba grabbing the winner - the guy is absolute class. How did Pepe and Luiz look?
Agreed. Real could turn their attention to yet another big signing next summer as that's how they operate as a club. With any luck Ceballos could just be sold off to make room for their next marquee player
Don’t u think this makes it even less? Hard to know what game people are talking about sometimes.... think this threads kills it fully. No?
I don't mind if people want to bin this thread off and do separate match day threads. It just needs somebody to make sure they do one each match. I thought this one could be a thread where all the other general stuff could go, that doesn't fit into any of the other threads. Maybe it should just be renamed ...... ?
I just hope Daniel Ceballos feels at home at club, likes living in London and with player power can push a deal to stay with arsenal.. give him love, me him motm every game But winter is coming..
I'm hoping we see this as the starting 11 vs Liverpool... --------------------------Leno--------------------------- AMN---------Sokratis--------Luiz---------Monreal -------Guendouzi--Torreira--Ceballos------------- -Pepe-----------Lacazette--------------Aubamey-
Our next two games are Liverpool and Spurs, so it was highly important to get maximum points from our opening two games. Neither performance was great, but given the absentees we had and players lacking match fitness, I don't really care so long as we're winning. I expect the performances to improve after the international break. I thought Burnley's tactics actually worked quite well for the most part. They were pressing us high up the pitch and were closing down the passing lanes every time we tried to build out from the back. They made it a very physical, aerial contest, as you would expect, but to be fair, I thought we rose to the challenge and didn't let them bully us. They made it a cagey affair which, thankfully, we were able to win. Ashley Barnes is always a pain the backside, and despite his goal (which was a result of a deflected cross, although Luiz/Guendouzi should have done better), he was well marshalled. Ceballos had an unbelievable game. His close control, nimble feet and ball retention are so reminiscent of Cazorla. What a player he is. Shame it's only for a year. If he continues to play like that, and Madrid continue their habit of big-name signings, I hope they will be kind enough to give him to us permanently. Willock had another industrious display. I really like how intelligently he recycles possession and the fact he is never afraid to get stuck in. Always looks to drive forward when he gets the ball, too. He's got an incredible future ahead of him. You can never fault Guendouzi's work-rate, but my one gripe with him is he takes too long on the ball. If we want to play a fluid attacking game, releasing the ball early and pushing forward is essential. It's something he needs to work on. Nelson had a quiet game by his standards. Unlucky with the offside goal, but didn't offer much. Monreal and AMN were fairly solid. Glad to see both Auba and Laca scoring, but I am hoping we will get goals from other sources, as we can't rely on these two to always bail us out. Good start, let's hope for a good display against Liverpool. So long as we don't get annihilated, I will be satisfied with a competitive display.
