I'll go for an outsider at Deauville in the 3.25 race. Etoile is favourite after finishing 4th in the Prix Diane but the favourite stank that day and it was a race of short distances covering the first six home. I don't think it was a strong renewal at all. Suphala was going to be Andre Fabre's 1000 Guineas filly but she struggled early in the season. I backed her when she won last time but was not impressed and she is a small filly with little scope. I think this is an open enough affair that is pretty tight and I think the value lies with the Nathaniel filly Mutamakina. Nothing special with a third place on debut she has already progressed well and won her next two races. I feel there is more to come given her sire and I reckon the price of her is all wrong at 18/1. The stable With three places available in an eight runner race I believe she is excellent each-way value at the price. I believe she should be about 8/1 myself and I may have even taken her at that. I feel Suphala is poor value at 11/4. 3.25 Deauville Mutamakina 18/1 EW 1-2-3 places.
Morning all..2 bets for me today: Newbury 3.35pm Hey Gaman 7/2. Weighted to get the better of Sir Dancelot and ground also likely to help. Big chance. Perth 3.40pm Chef De Troupe 6/4. Think he can dictate from the front, had a sighter at course in his last outing and can land the spoils assuming handles ground. Has nearly a stone in hand on the top weight. Had a look at both of Newlands runners being sent up to Perth and convinced he will get a winner. Left Supreme Steel alone as not sure about him... Good luck all.
Last Saturday it was the folly of the Shergar Cup and heavy ground Haydock. This Saturday the weather has intervened again with only HQ looking reasonable. In the second race (2:45), Chatham House only has the one win to his name, last time over seven, and has only raced twice over six (third both time). I would be worried about Revolutionise blowing the start again and clearly Varian thinks the cheekpieces are the solution. ZUMURUD has three seconds and a win from six starts this term, all over today’s distance, so hopefully he can win again for Rebecca Bastiman, although I suspect she will be at Ripon. In the fifth race (4:30), I seriously wonder whether Oydis has gone from an ordinary 70-rated handicapper over ten furlongs to being more than a stone better over fourteen furlongs in one race. I expect Harry Bentley to set off to make all but after his eight length win unchallenged last time, I do not expect him to be allowed to slip the field and JEDHI with young Cieran Fallon aboard will pick him off.
I think AYUTTHAYA 4.25 Ripon has a cracking chance of going in, currently 6/1, in from 9s. Ryan and Eaves combo doing well of late.
Also like the look of DAVE DEXTER 3.55 12/1 and OYDIS 4.30 7/4 both at Newmarket. Another trainer jockey pair in form.
Current Option 3.45 Cork...like the look of the owner/trainer/jockey combo. Same lot teamed up for a decent winner in one of the Galway Festival handicaps ...been a bit of support also
afternoon all! donny,1 10: a big field and some well treated horses,so too is my choice RED SEEKER,who is on a real roll at the moment.that hasnt gone unnoticed by the assessor, but hes still feasibly treated on on former exploits,so with the allowance also a help, should be very competitive again today..
Afternoon all, Obviously a no bet kind of day for me, but I thought the odd reader would find a brief snippet of interest from my day out yesterday. We went to see Fergal O'Brien's current yard and had a good chat with Sally (asst trainer) about all things FOB racing. Firstly, as Stick will no doubt attest, trying to find the yard isn't the easiest, and we ended up in the middle of NTD yard as they were turning out a lot!! Amazingly everyone was so friendly at NTD, and it was amazing to see his massive string heading out onto the road (and then onto the gallops). The lads/lasses were so friendly and made my lads day by saying hello to him. Anyway, after that quick excursion we found FOB yard, and were made very welcome by Sally. We had a quick chat about the horse i'd gone to discuss and went through his form, pedigree and why his price is what they suggested. The amount of detail that came out of the conversation was brilliant and I was at ease knowing that Sally knew massive amounts about not only the FOB horses but the form of other yards. The passion she spoke with about their horses was compelling and very interesting to hear how a few of the string had developed over the summer. Now, what is interesting is that they are moving yards this year and they are expanding the string because of that. The new yard has 80 boxes and they've already got approximately 78 horses ready for the move. I say approximately because Sally wasn't quite sure how many they had in pre-training yards scattered around the country!! That is a big step up from the 50 boxes they had when they started at this yard. It showed me something I wasn't really aware of, how yards have to manage their stock from satellite yards to pre-training/owners yards in the early months prior to the season. Quite a staggering operation. So the new yard sounds really interesting, and with it being very close to Kim Bailey's yard, it is in a great location for us folk near to Cheltenham. They are very hospitable and what is more, they know their onions and how to train winners. So will I be investing? Of course.
well, thx a lot, guys! a good start for me today. newbury,1 50: DENFORD STAKES none can be ruled out here, but i d rather go with a horse, that is proven in higher class races, and thats excactly the case with SUN POWER.is a bit more exposed than some others here, but showed clear promise in all four starts so far, especially his last run was very useful,so should acquit himself well today.
Good afternoon peeps My hopes today are pinned on these lovely beasts Thunderous, Morando, George William and Glorious Journey in the Hungerford. At Ripon I'm going with Alaadel and the days hotpot, Great Prospector. In Newmarkets Greyded race I went with Revolutionise Good luck lads
Hey Gaman seems to have found his mojo at 7F and he may have a little more to come having been tried very highly and at the wrong trip in the past. The soft ground is my concern despite him having won on it before. He was 50/1 when down the field on soft behind Roaring Lion over a mile and it may be worth chancing that he will get away with it at 7F. Glorious Journey has been backed but looks poor value now. Safe Voyage is 6YO and he loves the soft but he was behind Hey Gaman previously and although there was not much in it the Tate runner lost a shoe that day. Overall I felt Hey Gaman was the play getting 3 lbs from Sir Dancealot. 3.35 Newbury Hey Gaman 7/2
perth,2 30: HOLY MOTIVATION is probably one of the lesser lights of her high profile stable, but she still might be good enough to score here, especially as she ran pretty well here a few weeks ago,and if able to build on that here, has a big chance.
just a quick look at the geoffrey freer stakes at newbury:: MORANDO is a solid group horse, and he isnt bothered by the ground or trip today,so he should have the measure of these today.ran as well as could be expected in the hardwicke stakes, and this is a good bit easier here..
Caught on the post..thought David Egan took it a bit easy close home thinking the colt had done enough
