Correct - became Colorado Avalanche (nice French touch there !) in '95/7 ? I reckon. The fighting aspect of the game today is more slapstick (as opposed to "Slapshot" ) , somewhat akin to pro wrestling. There's an old joke that goes something like this: " I went to the fight last night, but an ice hockey game broke out. Bloody ripped off !".
Assem Allam told Geraghty at the meeting he had two buyers for Hull City. One without the freehold for £30 million. One with the freehold for £60 million. He had a promise from Brady that the Council would consider giving him the freehold before he bought the club. He paid £40 million for the club and looked to make a short-term profit. No wonder he hit the roof when Brady changed his mind. There were no plans for any investment by the Allams in developing the land around the KCOM as was only too obvious when he turned down the Council's offer for a joint venture. If I remember correctly the College refused permission to build an indoor pitch unless it was in the style of their existing buildings. The Allams said no and so turfed out the tenants of the Airco Arena instead. The Airco Arena was intended as a public facility subsidised by Hull FC and City AFC in return for the SMC paying an annual rent of £1 a year. Pity the Council didn't draw up a proper legally binding agreement. Some would say £250,000 a year wasn't a bad deal for a brand new facility. All water under the bridge. When their tenure is finally over the history books will show the Allams spent well over half a billion pounds and left us in a worse position than when they bought us. That certainly takes some doing.
Your'e no "fickle football fan" TC. I live a half hour walk from the stadium and Iv'e been twice in four or five years. Once because whilst visiting my Dad in his care home, he just insisted I should go, because we'd win if I did. Dad's care home was a half hour walk to the stadium. I went and sat my arse down in the North stand (Yes I sat for the whole game). We won 2-0. The next game I attended was for Geo's lad. There's been a few people on here lately, telling us fans who don't go to games now, that we're making excuses and we're not "real" fans. I'd been going to City for forty odd years before I boycotted. Do I need an 'excuse'? Maybe I should "EARN MY ****ING STRIPES". Maybe my Dad should've earned his stripes, he was only attending for 70 odd years I'm getting a bit tired of these ****ing 'Super Fans' on here to be honest.
They can't be liars & charlatans can they. They openly admitted they knew bugger all about football, and openly stated no-one tells them how to run their business. Seems they are as pure as the driven snow based on their record. How's the generator business doing ? Are they top of the disaster relief opportunity table still ?
How the hell did you managed to quote my post under "Tentotwo" s name ? I may want to use that trick sometime to hide evidence
Never once have I expected a medal for supporting Hull City. These Allam fans seem to crave a Blue Peter Badge ffs. Here's Eeamon Andrews saying 'Billy Bollocks' "THIS IS YOUR LIFE"
This sketch reminds me of the hardships these "superfans" have suffered on behalf of the "ficklefans". "Tragedy" as opposed to "Luxury".
Glad we agree a deal was done nod and a wink It had to be This half billion mainly went to the players obi as it does to every club Nothing? An academy producing players for the first team, by hook or by crook. Allowing clubs to use the facilities for next to fuxk all was a typical old labour idea. Reality bites. It’s why the council kicked a load of sports clubs out of their facility and gave it to soccer sixes I believe. Who would pay the money. Also I seem to recall you telling me four years ago the council weren’t going to hang around waiting for Allam they would get someone else to develop the area or do it themself, hows that going ????
The only bit about this I struggle to believe is that Brady promised Allam anything. He’s too good a politician to do that. I believe Allam might have said that he wanted the freehold and Brady didn’t say he definitely couldn’t have it, but I simply can’t imagine him saying anything like a promise, even if it was just a promise to ‘consider’ it. Most I can imagine is him saying it could be discussed, I know that semantics, but discussing something that you know very well you don’t have the power to do yourself and saying you’ll consider it are two very different things.
Brady was in opposition at this time. The Liberals were in Guildhall. Plenty of politicians promise jam tomorrow when in opposition.
Definitely wrong then Either way no politician (was it Carl Minns?) would have promised it, they would have simply not immediately said no
Allam wouldn't have gone to meet Brady if he wasn't leader of the Council, in fact Assem met him at Allam Marine in May 2011, as soon as he'd become leader of the Council.
When Burnley got promoted, before being relegated with us, they spent £400,000 on one transfer. The rest they invested in building up the infrastructure of the club and making sure they got promoted the following season. They could afford to buy Andre Gray whilst the Allams had to borrow money to pay our players' winning bonuses. First Bartlett and then Allam, the same model of running the club, the same outcome.
