Starting XI Edwin Van Der Sar- 5 The veteran stopper couldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have done anything about either of the goals but his kicking wasn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t up to its usually high standards, maybe because of the wind. Even though he had little to do overall he could of helped organise the defense better to deal with the two crosses, without the presence of Rio Ferdinand. Rafael- 4.5 The Brazilian was one of the only players alive to the threat before the first goal, managing to delay Jarvis but unable to stop the delivery totally. He was always willing to provide an option and gave us good width when Wolves sat back but the wind seemingly made it difficult for him to provide any meaningful crosses. please log in to view this image The NI International is Surely Ferguson̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 4th Choice RB now Jonny Evans- 3.5 The CB, who replaced Rio when he injured his calf in the warm up, was never convincing dealing with high balls and wnet to sleep for the second goal, letting Doyle get around him way too easily. More damagingly he inexcusably showed evidence of cramp before the hour mark, just as he did against Southampton- reaffirming my belief that he is carrying weight and unfit for no apparent reason. Nemanja Vidic- 4 A very poor performance from the captain who looked out of sorts all match. He was unable to challenge Elokobi for the first goal and gave away a very sloppy free kick for their second goal. Nonetheless, he should have had at least one penalty, in the first half, when Stearman had his arms all around him. Patrice Evra- 6 The Frenchman showed a willingness to attack and run with the ball that was all to absent from United, who generally lacked all creativity, and showed why we should be tying him up to a new contract as soon as possible. A solid performance. Nani- 6 A thunderous strike in the third minute, cutting in on the right, made us all think picking up the three points would be a formality but he the winger seemed to disappear after his free kick in the first half dipped just over the cross bar. The return of Valencia at the end of the month should give us more options on the wing and hopefully allow us to switch things up when he starts to drift out the game. please log in to view this image Fletcher- do us a favour- shut your mouth. Darren Fletcher- 1 I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t care how he performed (I would have given him a 4) I never want to see a professional footballer, especially a Red, constantly bombard the referee with abuse and dissent. The Scot constantly questionned Michael Oliver̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s decisions and encouraged him to give O̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢Hara a second yellow card. The midfielder should concentrate on addressing his own mistakes in the future. Michael Carrick- 4 A poor performance by the England international who saw the whole first half evade him. Failing to make any worthwhile contribution to the outcome of the game he was rightfully replaced at half time by Paul Scholes. It seems he just wasn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t up for the fight on the horrendous pitch at Molineux. Ryan Giggs- 4.5 A strange day for the legendary Welshman. He had a reasonably fruitful first half but seemed to struggle in the second forty five before he was moved into the middle where he seemed to grow frustrated with the performance of his teammates and himself. Dimitar Berbatov- 4.5 Another frustrating away day for our leading goalscorer who has struggled to find his form away from Old Trafford. As always he showed an impeccable touch throughout but found himself isolated up front as Rooney dropped out in a desperate search for the ball. Wayne Rooney- 5 After his magnificent performance last week the forward once again proved ineffective. In his frustration he went searching for the ball excessively and left Berbatov isolated before his basic error led to the Wolves second. Would you pick Rooney as a starter if you were Capello in his current form? Substitutes Chris Smalling- 6 In my opinion, he is undoubtedly the third best CB at the club, ahead of Evans and showed skill on the ball in his cameo appearance and seemed to deal well with the presence of the under appreciated Kevin Doyle. A reassuring performance before the derby next week. Chicarito- 6 This boy never fails to amaze me! Even though he was unable to save another game the boy doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t half have a leap, managing to get his head to the ball above the hands of the 6ft 4 Wolves keeper, Wayne Hennessey. On a more serious note̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ the Mexican was lively when he came on but was strangely left to be the lone striker in a 4 5 1 formation till the end of the match. Paul Scholes- 4 Coming on at the start of the second half ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ã âSat Nav̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ was meant to reignite our passing game but seemed to revert to playing handball again, a poor performance, what else can I say̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ Do you agree? My thoughts are the same as earlier. We were ****e but to have a go at Fletcher for pointing out the blatantly obvious mistake the ref made in failing to send O'Hara off is more a fault on your part than Fletcher's. He committed a 2nd bookable offence and wasn't carded. Somehow you think that our player pointing out this pretty spectacular failure by the ref is wrong. No, screw thiat. Forget your morals for 2 seconds and tell me how asking for what is the correct decision is wrong.
Laugh all you want. You lot embarrassed yourselves yesterday and have yet again showed that you lack bottle. We lack midfield ability, you guys just lack balls.
I agree that it should have been a second yellow card but no player should be brandishing imaginary yellow cards to the ref, thats the stuff that Chelsea & Arsenal do- we're better than that. Having passion is great but, as a referee myself, having a know it all footballer question your every decision0 as Fletcher did- does not help at all and just makes you more inclined to go the other way. Either way, i think the blame lies with us not the official- Fletcher, Rooney & Giggs all made alot more mistakes than the ref.
Why are we better than that? There isn't a team in the country where players don't ever say to the ref that an opponent should be booked. Why is a hand gesture so much worse than words? It just doesn't bother me. Poor decisions by refs do though. We were awful yesterday and deserved to lose but had the ref made the correct call, we may have lucked into a win.
