Djiksteel’s sale says to me that we are stuck with Duchatelet for at least another season. The money will disappear into the Belgian wallet, and Liar de Turk will inform the next Fan’s Forum that it’s gone on covering the operating losses. I read the latest projection (if you can believe it) is that we are losing around £450,000 a month, so that keeps the wolves from the door in his own mind for the next four months at least. I think the Belgian prick’s new “aim” is to prove he can run a club in this league for a season for “Nil cost”. He will regard himself as breaking the mould in English football if he does so.
Thass juss wot I think n all. It's looked that way for a while now. Oddly enough, if he achieves his true ambition this season I think he might just sell next summer having satisfied his ego. The Aussies will still be around then too, and might even have lodged their papers with the EFL by then. With the sale of Taylor to come in January he might just do it.
The Djiksteel money gets him through until January - then he can sell Taylor, or maybe Albie Morgan if he does well. He will then turn round next May - probably on Talksport - and tell Jim White he was a pioneer who ran a Champions club for a season without a loss. We will have been relegated by then of course, but that won’t be a consideration.
With Taylor now being eyed up by Brentford, RD might even turn a profit this season. What good that will do him is a puzzle - there is a limit to how much he can sell of the body parts before the patient goes into a coma, and passes away. As the old joke goes - the operation was a huge success, but the patient died. Thanks Roland.
I think Douchatelet's hatred is directed mainly at the EFL, which he blames for landing him with an unwanted burden, ie Charlton. The petition to the EFL may be a waste of time, but it might draw attention to the situation we are in the middle of. There has to be a new angle to the whole business of trying to rid us of this turbulent cvnt.
New statement on official site Takeover The owner was disappointed to read that the Coalition Against Roland Duchatet (CARD) will resume targeted protests against him. This new aggression raises the question as to why CARD would do that. We have had two seasons in a row where Charlton participated in the play-offs, we have now been promoted to the Championship and we have a manager and staff in place that all the fans are behind. Lee Bowyer and Steve Gallen have an agreed budget and have built a squad that everyone can get behind. The threats of CARD to the owner and implication he should heavily increase spending on players come after they have regularly urged fans not to put money into the club by delaying buying season tickets. The positive thing of the last CARD communication (August 1st) is that they now acknowledge that protests during games have a negative impact on the team so they will not protest at games. However, they said they will “target” Duchatelet and his collaborators. What is clear is that both fans and the owner want the club to be sold. While some individuals have their own agendas let’s work to make the club attractive on the market so that we can find a rich new owner willing to spend a good part of his or her personal wealth on trying to get Charlton back to the Premier League.
Roland Duchatelet is a serial liar. The only announcement he can make on the official website that would hold my interest is confirmation that he has sold the Club. And even then I'd want verification from a trustworthy source. If he's looking for sympathy from fans he'll get none from this one.
Nobody has any idea what CARD intend to do. They probably don't know themselves. Two wins and a decent transfer window has spiked their guns somewhat, and it's a case of waiting to see if Bowyer and Lyle get offered good long term contracts.
Bizarre statement in the extreme, especially the timing. The CARD statement as I remember, came at a point where Dijksteel had gone, we had been told that Bowyer would be recieving none of the Lookman sell on money, and Taylor was on the point of being sold. Given what happened when Grant was sold in january, there was a lot of anger on all the forums, and the CARD statement was generally welcomed. Since then, Bowyer did some stellar work in the transfer market, we kept Taylor, and the Dijsteel money seems to have been re invested in the squad, Logically there have been no further mentions of a protest from CARD or anyone else - who would protest when the Taylor sale was apparently vetoed by the club. So why, when the anger has gone, and there is a lot of excitement about how the team is shaping up, is RD (or one of his minions) raking over the coals again? the nearest I can imagine is that given he has temporarily got the club into a goodish place, he wants to provoke the protesters in the hope they will try to goad the unwilling fans into a protest and recieve the consequent abuse for not getting behind the team. It's not very convincing, but it's hard to bend the latest statement into any sort of reality the rest of us recognise. It came from planet Duchatalet. There may be a subtext that the sale didn't go through because of all those pesky fans, but the reality is that most of us have watched as Dalman and the European group walk away from the idiotic position RD has built the sale on. This all happened in the summer, when the fans were all taking a break - the only elephant in the room was RD. Like I said, it smells of goading the fans when RD has got the club into a decentish position, with a great management team. And given RD, it's sadly not impossible to think that. Why publish the statement otherwise?
I am not quite sure what good Ole Yellow's statement does?.... Wasn't CARD's Statement about 2 weeks ago?... why wait till now to reply? Who the hell is advising this man?... Herr Turkey?
With two wins from two and the fans happy with the transfer window he has seen the opportunity to go on the front foot. He's walking a fine line though. If he wants to keep the positivity going that means keeping Bowyer and Lyle, and that means allowing Bowyer to build something more permanent.Bowyer's burgeoning reputation means that Douchatelet will have to show a bit more appreciation than he did last season, when he let his contract run down.
Naturally Duchatelet is making the most of Charlton's good start in the league, trying to convince fans that he has been generous in his backing for LB during the transfer window and that Charlton now has everything it needs to be competitive in the Championship. In his own fantasy world, RD already thinks the fans now adore him because he refused to sell Lyle Taylor, so will believe anything he says.
Even after only two games it's clear that Taylor is genuine Championship quality, and will command a salary to match. Douchatelet will never accept that, expecting another miracle from Steve Gallen. The shadow of his departure will loom larger as January approaches, as will Bowyer's future. Few fans still believe that the club is for sale.
On CL, Prague Addick says he has heard thet the European bid is pretty much over, as RD and his team continually move the goal posts. Not really a good strategy for making a sale, especially since RD has now made two statements this month explaining how owning a club in the Championship is financially unviable, and advising potential buyers to look elswhere.
